Hi,

I bought a used Tele that has an electrosocket. Unfortunately, none of my 90 degree angle plugs will hold in the electrosocket, which makes it a pain to play the guitar sitting down.

I noticed that the jack is not screwed into the electrosocket all the way - it's mounted so it's flush with the 'bowl' shape of the inside of the socket, and unfortunately I think the jack and the nut have been glued in place. Presumably this was to keep the jack from loosening, but it's a pain since I can't use right angle plugs at the moment. I can't seem to break the jack loose to screw it in fully and allow the use of right-angle cables.

Has anyone else had this experience? Are there brands/styles of right-angle cables that work better with electrosockets?

I'd like to avoid throwing out an otherwise functional electrosocket and jack, but I suppose that if I can't find a cable that works I'll have to do so.

Anyone else had this happen?

Thanks! Sorry I didn't see those threads.

What I need is this:

But right now I'm stuck with this:

Because the two are glued together, I can't seem to budge them.

I know it's only like a $15 fix to replace the jack and socket, but I like to fix and reuse things that are still good when I can :)

Try using heat to break the bond. Remove the electrosocket from the body and hold the jack with pliers. Put a heat-resistant glove on the other hand, heat the inside of the jack with a soldering iron, and unscrew it.

My guess is that it's not glued together but it's a non matching metric and SAE ensemble and is jammed into the thread.
there is no way in hell the jack could turn loose inside the cup, as there are to wires soldered to the jack and the cup is secured with two screws.

After you get the part out, try acetone. I'm guessing it's superglue but who knows...

I have electrosockets with the jack mounted flush on two Teles.. I use a Whirlwind leader cable without issues. YMMV! (Your jack may be screwed down more than mine, for example)
