Hi,

Have an EJ Strat and wondered how the ‘56 AVRI Thin Skin from Wildwood guitar compares to the EJ neck as far as thickness is concerned. Is the ‘56 chunkier? Closer to a U shape Tele? I like thicker necks.

Thanks in advance!

Can't give you a hands-on, as I've never played the EJ, but Wildwood is good about measuring and posting 1st and 12th fret, nut width measurements and other specs, so if you haven't checked out their listings, links below. Both are V-shaped (albeit "soft" on EJ, "boat neck" on TS 56), so I'd think they'd be similar, but the specs they have on their current TS 56 are slightly bigger. Both look like great guitars.

I can share that I got my 59 Thin Skin a couple months ago and it's awesome! Love the CS54 pups too.

Hope you get to play them both. Happy hunting!

I would think they would be similar as I think EJ's are based off of the 56's he had.

It's interesting though. Wildwood has two EJ's with measurements of .85 - 1.00, yet I am certain that my EJ is .9 - 1.00 (measured at 1st and 12th). My measurement seems to be closer to Thin Skin 56's they have.

Also is your EJ a maple neck? I thought I heard EJ say that the rosewood/bound neck is a slightly different shape.

I'm sure Wildwood will be happy to assist with your questions. I bought 2 guitars there and they were great to deal with.

Hi guys!

Yes, I got the maple neck and love the chunkiness. Wondered what a boat V was on their site.

I did get a ‘52 thin skin Tele from Wildwood last September. Will give ‘em a ring in a few days.

Thanks all for your help :)

I have 4 56 v necks that vary quite a bit in profile and thickness - Assume this is the sanding phase as they would be CNC

Second that on customer service. Several years ago I bought a (much less expensive) Tele from them. Even though I wasn't buying a high end instrument they made me feel like I was buying a Ferrari. Really nice, professional folks.

I just bought my second guitar from them in 2 months. Customer service stellar in both instances.
