Everybody knows, or if they don’t they should, the majestic guitar tour de force that is Maggot Brain.

But this is pretty good too

I have to admit I don’t know much of his stuff beyond the Maggot Brain album.

so hoping you’ll post some good stuff!
    Cheers,
    Geoff

I first heard this stuff in '91 or '92. Love it. The whole album is great!

That track sounds to me like Prince had more than a little Eddie Hazel in his influences. Lenny Kravitz might have heard it too. And obviously Vernon Reid.

    Cheers,

For those that haven’t heard it

Basically a nine or so minute guitar solo. Pretty mesmerizing.

And a bad word in the intro. So nsfw for just a second. This version has cut that out. So it’s pretty much just nonstop Eddie.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

You gotta check out Eddie's solo album "Games Dames and Guitar Thangs" - so much feeling and soul combined with fire. He had the smoothest flow that goes unmatched to this day. That album alone was a holy bible of guitar licks and phrases to me growing up.

Sure, George Clinton hired more technical guitarists after Eddie left. But none of them had the pure expression and raw emotion that he did.

Any tracks in particular online? I’m pretty sure anything available is worth checking out.

    Cheers,

Exactly. That’s why I’m hoping those that know his work better than I do will post some tunes.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

As mentioned above, Eddie solo album "Games..." is very good. Here's a sample cut:

The live version of Maggot Brain from 1978 is also great

"Red Hot Mama" from the album "Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On" by Funkadelic. This one has the naughty intro edited out(Be careful with the unedited cut--could well offend some)
