That brings Ebay's slice of the pie to about 12% of each sale with the cut from Paypal, which is becoming the only allowed source of payment soon as well. Time to look elsewhere.

With them getting the FVF AND another cut out of you with PayPal, and SEVERAL percentage hikes in the last 2-3 years, I was starting to dislike them.................................now it is turning to hate.

We have a classified section here too..................that's FREE !

Not a bad idea to start a list of alternative but reputable auction/sale sites. I am probably walking away from selling anything there again after all of the hikes.

If I understand right, you will be able to do a lot of listing without any fees, which I see as good to the casual seller. And on EBAYS side. A lot of folks were padding their shipping including me to avoid fees. You saw a lot of stuff for sell for .99 cents and then 15 dollar shipping for small items.

The only reason I go to ebay is to get pics of bare bodies to show people here how the routes look.

Id much rather buy somrething from a member here or sell to a member here I have known for years.

If everyone quit selling on there, they'd either have to change or shut down. I won't sell on there again after my last experiences. They cost me a ton of money for almost nothing...and did nothing about non-paying buyers, couldn't even leave negative feedback. I hope they go under.

I used to love Ebay, but slowly and surely it has gotten worse and worse. Too many people know about it and the amount of bargains are massively reduced - I may still buy strings, picks etc from there but can't see myself buying much else.

Selling costs a fortune now, which looks to be getting worse - Paypal is an absolute nightmare! My days of selling stuff on there in an ideal world would be over, but in the UK it is still the best way to sell really (that I know of). Gumtree is very flakey and not very user friendly IMHO

Hopefully it misses us. Also, I was unaware we had a TDPRI'er from Eugowra. I grew up partially in/around Molong, which isn't too far from you. Good country out there.

Yes I do not like this at all, I feel Ebay and Paypal have enough already.

However - I bet this is do to a trend lately with a lot of electronics. I have seen several iphones on there with a buy it now price of $20.00 and then a shipping price of $700.00 dollars. Of course with local pickup not an option. Doing this gets the sellers out of the fees. There is probably a better way to stop this problem without charging FVF's that include shipping.

So are there any decent alternative auction sites? I like etsy but it's more of a specialty site. Ebay has become way too evil and tainted. It's way past time for a replacement but I haven't seen anything approaching ebay's usability. I realize it's going to take a large number of converts but it's definately time to upgrade.

I barely visit ebay nowadays...used to buy a fair amount of stuff, but they've turned me off with the direction they've taken. Add to that, I hate PayPal.

I agree... I hate the people that try to skate around paying any sort of fees by offering the item for next to nothing, but then bending people over on shipping fees. Still, I can understand the desire to not want to give ebay even more money than they're already making on things (especially when you factor paypal into the picture).

I'm with you, there's gotta be a better way to address that issue besides lumping the shipping costs into FVF's and screwing their client base over even harder.
