Love this partscaster but endpin jack falls out pretty much every time I unplug the cable. Will it work to try whacking it in with a mallet, or should I replace the jack?

It is missing an important component that actually holds it in place. At this stage, I would replace the jack and socket with an Electrosocket/Pure Tone set.
Thanks; ordered.

Newbie question, looks like connector at left is sleeve/ground, connector at right is tip, correct?

Bonus newbie question, will this involve snipping off that rubberized covering and soldering in the new jack?

It isn't necessary to replace the jack itself if you don't want to bother disconnecting/soldering it. It looks like it was well done. Just throw the Pure Tone in a drawer and use it if this one ever becomes noisy/troublesome. But the jack DOES have to fit the Electrosocket you ordered. They come in both English and Metric. Do you know if the jack is import or US? Virtually all imports are metric, but if someone used a Switchcraft/Fender/Emerson brand, it will likely be US/SAE threads.

Great advice, thanks! Yeah the switch is Emerson so I'm guessing the Allparts US jackplate will fit.

yep. the jack socket is the big failing of the Tele.. replace with an electrosocket immediately... then, live long, and prosper..
