Joni & Jaco is the best Joni. Her tunings were amazing, and Jaco played to them perfectly.

    What a delivery!
    Beautiful guitar playing, voice- captivating!
Joni is an orchestra with her talent

I know this as a Grateful Dead, Bobby Weir song.
(Wrongly as usual, I thought this was a GD original )

I was up late one night feeding my infant son and to pass the time I was channel surfing and stopped at a broadcast of The Last Waltz. Joni was singing "Coyote" and I was floored, what a great song.

I went out the next day and bought Hejira. It may have been The Band's big night, but Joni won the talent show.

It may be hyperbole but Joni is a goddess of music world. An amazing lyricist who paints pictures with words and tells rich stories. Who can find words to describe the magic of her tunings and melodies? Then there’s that voice with incredible range, able to soar over her songs. Before age and years of smoking lowered her voice, it was simply beautiful and filled with emotion.
Joni Mitchell’s voice/music would be in my “desert island” collection and perhaps the first I’d choose.

"he's staring a hole in his scrambled eggs
    (laughs) no regrets, Coyote!
I just get off up the way"

    so much psychology

if I were with her, I'd be figuring out a way to keep her, too

    love ya Joni

Both Joni and Neil had polio. Joni says that’s why she played in open tunings because it was easier. Neil says his right side is always trying to catch up to his left side which would explain his guitar playing.

I had a roommate 25 years ago in NYC.

Her college roommate turned out to be the girl that Joni gave up for adoption.
