I'm seeing far more of the e-Mustangs than I expected. It's probably part living in a 550,000 metro area and work trips to a 1.5 million people metro area.

As much as I'd have given the product a different name, I confess they look fine for their category. I've seen them parked and in traffic with other CarUV types. In white and grey the design compares well to others. The VW dealer near me has had an ID.4 and I think the Ford looks good compared to it.

I need to train myself to look for these things. I have yet to notice one in the wild here.

I sat in one as a pasanger last week.

My teammate's wife is something big in Ford Hungary, so whatever she drives home that is my mate's ride on that day. Usually lets me drive them, but not this one, since it sported a temporary german lincence plate.

I didn't care for it. It was like a posh chinese smartphone. It was very very fast -all electric cars are-, and very very quiet - all electric cars are- but if I want to see a screen as big as this was equipped with, I just go to a multiplex.

A few weeks ago he came to the training session with a real Mustang, with the V8 Coyote engine, now that was more up my alley....

I saw a Mustang E in person at a local body shop recently , I thought it looked pretty cool and better looking in person than the pictures again IMO.
This isn't going to be for the regular Mustang buyer crowd, but I think they will sell well for Ford, it looks better than the Tesla 3 IMO. And they will still have the gas powered Mustangs for those who want them , $70K for a Mustang GT is crazy $ to me.

And I don't know how roomy it is in the back seat but I'd think it has to be better than the regular Mustangs which honestly are almost 2 seater cars.
I see a lot of new cars that look worse than this ...

I find most hybrid/electric vehicles not very attractive aesthetically personally.... This one is no different, But why in God's name did they decide to slap the word "Mustang" on it?????

It's not a fricken Mustang!!!

I'm anxiously awaiting the electric 4 door Corvette SUV model now.

Just stupid IMO.

I'm still seeing more of these than expected. One silver one is just a regular at one of our stores but how many really surprises me knowing the battery constraints and overall market size. It could where I live. Lots of Teslas here, we have the first battery powered fire truck, and the Madison has 60+ electric vehicles in the fleet.

I think I posted earlier here how I saw one of these parked in a row of CarUVs that included a Model Y. In that context it looked very good.

Early this week I met a young engineer who's been between Dearborn and the university engineering department here working on electric vehicles. He said it is a lot of fun mixed with great privilege, and he felt many have no idea how good new generation and coming products are or will be. He described a well funded environment across several companies with motivated top talent working hard.

A funny visualization I have is young people like that guy, some other young engineers, and a woman I know in bicycle related engineering as one army and memes of get off my lawn Luddites as the other. Do the Luddites honestly think grumpy shouting and fist shaking has a chance against all that motivated talent?

The E Mustang is what my teenage car-loving friends would call a “rolling abortion,” something which makes an AMC Gremlin look good. I guess Ford hired the people who designed the Aztec after they killed Pontiac and lost their jobs.

I see Ford is dropping the price in response to Tesla. Over time these cars have grown on me but I'd still have given it a different retro name and theme. Ford had legendary good stations wagons in past times as an example. We have young people who like retro stuff and still plenty alive who had their WWII vet dads buy and be proud of those cars.

A lot of reviews of this Ford are positive. My area has very high EV adoption rate so our stores (grocery) have them in parking lots. The owners of these seem to like them a lot.

We have lots of EVs around here too and I see them a fair bit, but we have a Ford dealer around the corner. I'd like to take a chance, but I did that in 2012 and got burned on a Focus, a Mustang GT, and the F150 which I regrettably still have. The cars have all been various shades of subpar but it's been the experience across dealers' service areas that's the dealbreaker. I guess you can treat customers however you want, but I'll never own another Ford product.

In terms of EVs, Teslas show up 3:1 over any other marque here, but there is a wide variety from Kias up to the eTron GT of which there are at least three in town. Must be nice.

I get that. We have developed some more dealer and service loyalty than vehicle brand over time. Still, I watch the company fleet and ours where we're both keeping them longer. The Japanese and German brands age better. We tolerate some extra and expense with our German car because they sure know how to do feel, fit and sound well.

It's been limited to exec/owners but the 3 company Tesla purchases have aged fine even though they don't have the sort of finish a Toyota or German vehicle has.

The whole industry sure has had a lot of recalls in past few years so we just committed to more repairs and waiting for new vehicles to come. To me there's also kind of a fun reverse snobbery not buying new vehicles as often. A new BMW owning associate and another with with a $75000 pickup asked how I can afford to travel and do so much - duh.....

Early on in this thread I made a comment about how I wasn’t seeing a lot of the e-mustangs where I live. They’re still rare, which I find weird because there’s a million Teslas. Maybe this price drop will increase sales here.

This is the ONLY electric Mustang I would be seen in ;)
There are several companies making EVs from vintage muscle cars.

Looks like Ford is also offering an electric EV "crate motor" for ICE to EV conversions.

I think that there have been several reasons why you haven't been seeing a lot of Mustang Mach-Es, and things are likely to change soon. The first reason was probably that potential EV buyers have had several years to become familiar with Tesla and trust the product. The Ford was unproven in the marketplace and has in fact had some reliability issues. I am sure that Ford has worked very hard to resolve those problems. The second reason is the question of value, which was somewhat countered by the $7500 tax credit which was available to Ford buyers and not to Tesla buyers. Now, though, Teslas are again eligible for the credit and combined with the price cut they will be really be tough for Ford to beat. Another reason why the Mach-E has not been as visible as the Teslas is limited production. As production capacity increases, dealers may actually have some on their lots. This will lead to more sales.

I could be interested in a Mach-E, but I am more of a sedan guy. My choices in EV sedans are extremely limited, and I won't buy a Tesla because as you said, there are "millions of them" around here.

Good points. If you can afford it, the Taycan is the e-sedan IMHO. Here, I see more of those than the Fords. Someone has the “cross turismo” version (shooting brake) and I’d replace my Macan with one if I had the coin.

You are correct, there seem to be more Taycans than Mach-Es around here. I could see a two or three year old certified used Cross Turismo in my future, but they need to do something about increasing the range. My other option is to wait for a new Cadillac EV sedan in 2025 or so. I was very happy with my two Volts and I like my ELR a lot, so I'd be happy to buy a new GM EV.
