Well the trajectory of society is far to powerful for you and me.

To, uh, THE END IS NIGH!
Spoze to self destruct in the 20th so the 21st C we DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED for sure!
I got old enough so that I got to quit being deliberately self destructive ( you know sex and drugs and rock and roll) Now at my age my body is handling the self destruct aspect of this mortal coil.

I worked in healthcare for 25+ years.
Every doctor and nurse I talked to, overheard or interacted with said that vaping was just as bad as tobacco. A *different* “just as bad,” but just as bad nonetheless.

Rather than switching addictions, it might be smarter to try patches, nicotine gum, medications, acupuncture (that’s how my dad quit in the 1970’s), therapy, sheer determination, a rubber band on your wrist to snap yourself—ANYTHING…just don’t start vaping if you’re trying to quit smoking.

I’m so glad I never started smoking, dipping, chewing or vaping…between my addictive personality and my “all-in” approach to habits, I’d probably already be dead.

Chewing gum and toothpicks probably aren’t good for you, but it’s better than the alternatives above.

Nicotine patches worked for me.
35 years smoking a little less than a pack of cigs a day.
Haven't smoked in 5 months.
I smoked a pack a day for 25 years myself. I tapered off nicotine with vaping, which was easy, then switched to the patch and followed the instructions to taper off and quit. Haven't smoked in 6 years.

Bottom line, it’s not good for you, but it’s not as bad for you, it’s easier to control nicotine levels, and you don’t smell nearly as bad. I found it very useful to quit smoking. Your goal should be to quit nicotine altogether.

I never smoked and I love the vape movement. Smells way better. All for it. Hope the weed movement goes that way too. That stuff is super stinky.

So i am looking to switch to e-cigs. I know zilch about them. Do any of you use them ? It looks like they are still bad for your health. Maybe not as bad, but still bad. At least you don't have combustion. Of course some of them tend to explode randomly, so it is a hazzard.

Any input appreciated.
Welp, as an ex-smoker, I’ll say that kicking nicotine is rough. So quit asap if you can.
The only benefit to smoking ACTUAL cigarettes is that there are decades of research showing how bad they are for you. No extended studies on vaping that I’m aware of.

I am not being critical, even though I have survived Throat cancer,
It's your life do with it what you will, please.
Just remember Cancer really screws up you smoking.
I quit smoking because I did not like making people really rich who were providing me with the bullets for a little tiny gun that was going to kill me. I was committing covert suicide and paying for the
privilege while doing it.
What's wrong with selling poison to people to make a living?

Right on.
Brings to mind the heroin dealer’s justification: “If I don’t sell it, they’ll just buy it somewhere else.”
