Is it possible to download a motor sound for your e-car?

I mean, wouldn't it be cool to have the sound of a B17 or FW190D under the hood?

    If not, why's that?

This is an interesting question. I'm looking into putting together an F1 Simulator. My assumption is that there are sounds.... Are there not?

Maybe you could change sounds on the fly? Go from a sewing machine to a chainsaw then a tugboat.

It could be like one of those old movie soundtracks...a couple sedately along in pleasant conversation while the car engine revs and shifts gears every 6-7 seconds in the background.

In its basic form, this was (and still is) being discussed by E-car engineers because pedestrians rely on their ears as well as eyes when crossing streets. Vehicles that make little noise can be particularly hazardous--especially for people with impaired vision in busy towns/cities.

A big block Chevy with headers and straight pipes would sound good on any Tesla ...

I keep waiting for someone to put a “sport compact” type exhaust on a Prius, so the entire neighborhood could be puzzled by the “now it’s running, now it’s not” effect as the gas engine started and stopped.

I love engines and noisy exhaust, but I’m glad our two Priuses (Prii?) have quiet exhaust systems. I think a good electronic sound for them would be a EMD locomotive diesel throb, with the kind of low-pitched turbo whistle.

I'm waiting for a car that has no windows at all, just a smooth, featureless exterior. External view cameras every which way, and driven using monitors inside where the windshield and side windows normally are.

I'm pretty sure I've seen videos of electric RC aircraft with actual engine sounds from a speaker in the plane. The engine sounds revved and fell with throttle inputs to the electric motor by the 'pilot'.

Not sure about custom, but I believe there are some models of Tesla that emulate engine noise.
It's not something I personally would pay extra for, but if it came standard for pedestrian safety, I'd be OK with that.

And eventually, youth will be as puzzled by it as they are today with "don't touch that dial".

They have some pretty decent piston engine sound systems for electric RC aircraft, so why not real electric cars...
