Hello,

Just installed a Duncan SM-1 in the neck position (at a guitar shop, supposed to have a professional repair man). The out of phase (middle position) sound was so prominent I obviously told them to fix it, but they said they had tried both wires and still the same.

Is it a problem with mixing two different brands pickups (Dimarzio Area T615 in the bridge)? Or firebird pickups are special so that they need special wiring to sound "normal" middle position?

Not willing to go back to the shop, but is there any way to fix the out of phase?

I know the topic has been discussed many times here already, but I'd like to ask since the Area T615 is a noiseless pickup, and if there's something to do with it....

Any help will be sincerely appropriated!

I assume he meant the ground wire and reversing it. I didn't get to see the pickup wires and inside of the control cavity at the shop, so I understood as he tried to reverse the ground wire. Sorry for the confusion!

Duncan and D'Marzio use different color codes for their 4-conductor wiring. There's a little more to it than moving the ground.

Yeah, definitely the shop's mistake, you can make in phase, doesn't have anything to do with pickup types.
