I guess my main question boils down to: Are they the same?
Thanks for any input.

Duke is made by MXR as a sort of collaboration or license agreement. Not sure of the actual arrangement. But Analogman has the hand in design and they even show it on their website. Just saying it’s not a clone.Didnt know about the duke. Just the King and the Prince.
He also set a limit on the prince. He will only sell you two and your done. They’re the same price new, so I guess it boils down to form factor and how bad you want it. Getting a prince is a gamble. He releases them at 1pm est on wednesdays, and if you’re late forget it. (Hint: create an account and have payment saved and it’s not too hard). Duke is in stock everywhere so you could have it anytime.
Additionally, as Mike (somewhat surprisingly) mentioned in the MXR launch video, all you have to do is buy two Dukes, use them together, and you got yourself a King of Tone. No wait and a lot cheaper.I’ve had all three and I’m currently rocking the Duke. It’s actually very solidly built and the footswitch on it is fantastic. They all sound the same, and what I noticed was the Duke has the internal trim pot set to around 50% from the factory, versus anything straight from Analogman has the presence trim pot at 0%.
The trim pot makes a huge difference to the overall tone, and I’d bet not many reviewers tried to dial it in between each pedal. Also, I like being able to get a replacement pedal that’s readily available as someone who gigs regularly, and that won’t be the case with anything but the MXR without overpaying or waiting. Hope that helps.
And this is more puzzling, since Analogman mentioned, that stock sound IS presence all the way off. And only if you want that extra-presence for your rig, you can turn it up. I like extra spark, so mine is about 30% up now. They all sound the same, and what I noticed was the Duke has the internal trim pot set to around 50% from the factory, versus anything straight from Analogman has the presence trim pot at 0%.
