Looking through some old stuff I found a stack of old gig tickets, mainly from the 80s. Some are more interesting than others, and some artists had whole stacks to themselves.

This is a little collage of some of the more interesting and diverse ones.

And check out the prices . . . £6.50 (about $10) to see Eric Clapton in 1983. The only extortionate one is the Jean Michelle Jarre, but I got that for free because I worked on the show. And that's another story.

They were great. I actually saw what I believe was their first ever gig at the original Marquee club, which was slightly bigger than my living room.

Very cool! I habitually had always been terrible keeping my stubs, although it would not have come close to your collection.

My only prized stub was from an Eric Johnson show in 92? 93? in Boston that I got him to sign after the show ... about 15 years later I gave it to a dear friend/coworker who, upon seeing it, almost had tears in her eyes, with her having the same admiration for EJ as I do. I simply had to give it to her.

I love the variation in the sizes, fonts, and colors of the stubs. It's a great looking collection.

I've seen the Feelgoods, in the 70's at Sheffield, Leeds and about 5 years ago Reading, and Clapton with Dylan, Graham Parker, and Joan Armitrading at Blackbush in 78 for the princely sum of £6. Despite five years in London the only venue I went to was the Hammersmith Odeon, to see Buddy Guy and George Benson (this was ten years after leaving London). I spent loads of time at the Wardour Street (2nd version?) of the Marquee including the live album recordings Blues Band - Offical Bootleg Album, and Nine Below Zero - Live at the Marquee. I did appear at the Albert Hall, aged 17, as a dancer, but have never been to watch.

I have only ever kept one ticket stub. We went to see Fred Dibnah at Reading Town Hall in 2002. As we left the hall he was ehading for he bar. I bought him a Guiness or three and sat chatting with him for an hour or two. I got Fred to sign my ticket stub with the intention of giving it to my father in law who was a big fan. A week later when I was about to meet up with the FIL I asked my wife where they had gone to find that she had shredded them along with some other paperwork!

Iggy, Love & Rockets... jeez. Cure in 84, New Order 85 (with Happy Mondays!), Pixies 88, all near their peak for me. Thanks for sharing.

I'll dig my little keeper out later, I have a few.

Here's a spattering, inspired by Hemingway. PXL_20210306_145954107.jpg The Metrotix at top right don't show up too well, but two fantastic shows: World Party and Radiohead. Dang, I miss Chris Whitley.

Love it. Looks like we grew up with similar tastes. Most of my stubs went through the laundry!

Yep! I was gutted. I’ve got a stash of old tickets somewhere in the house still but pretty much everything pre 1981 got binned. Like you I’d rather not think about them too much, all my teenage memorabilia......sigh!!

I had kept all my tickets as I'm a visual sort of person and need the visual stimulus to recall things well. And then... and then... Well, I was overtaken by depression at one point in my life and got rid of everything I owned, pretty much. Now I don't have them, obviously. I do have memories triggered but my cats tell me to live in the moment, so that's what I'm trying to do. Saw some great shows though!

I just think the design on this Pearl Jam stub is cool.

In those young days, and at those prices, we just went to everything whether you'd heard of them or not. A good education
