Haha maybe! An early guitar hero of mine did rock a V, and I'm a huge Grace Potter fan. But doubt I could ever be seen in public with one!

One of my friends bought a vintage Princeton. Killer amp, so he’s happy about it.

I asked him if he shopped them for a while before buying. He said no, it was just late night, many drinks, and going onto fleabay.

Well, first of all, I have no regrets at all. It is the guitar that sings with little help from me, but that shot of whiskey was probably the tipping point. I was driving through Portland after passing through just a few days earlier when I found this magical guitar. 4x my budget. 4 days to think about it. I actually drove past the store on the way back to Montana. A few miles outside of town, I bought the shot, turned around, and came back to Portland and bought it. A harrowing few hours of my life. Maybe I needed my nerves to settle a bit. My wife was telling me it was a no brainer to get it, but I am a hack and at the time not confident that I could play to it's potential. Perhaps, I just don't have nerves of steel when falling in love with a guitar.

I bought my Telecaster sober but had to get drunk to buy my Les Paul.

Back many years ago during my heavy drinking/playing days I was playing a solo gig in a bar and I was playing my favourite 50year Anniversary Gretsch Country Gent and some guy asked If I wanted to sell it and I joked "If the price is right." He went away and when he came back he had $500. So I said "Yep, the price is right, but let me finish the gig and its yours." So I went home that night minus my very favourite Guitar and regretted ever since.. S

Haven't been drunk for over thirty years, and I obsess about gear for months before I ever put money out, so, no.

I see absolutely no problem with this. I actually think it’s greaT. a kid gets what is probably a much better playing entry level guitar, cost to you is time spent doing something you enjoy anyway.

The whiskey has clearly clouded your memory here. You were gonna buy it either way. You just needed the drink to deal with the shock of your wife saying buying an expensive guitar was a “no brainer”.

Haaa, I have never owned a Gibby, but my wife the bass player does ... and it is an LP guitar. So, she has a different perspective than I do.

I bought one of those red Epiphone 335 copies used. The action was high, I thought I could just lower it, but when i did, it buzzed a lot and the frets needed dressing. i could never get used to the neck, so I ended up having to get the frets dressed to sell it, and lost a few bucks on the deal. Luckily I don't drink anymore;)

No instruments, but once went drunk shopping at Disney Springs Art of Disney store. In all fairness, it wasn't all my fault. The shift manager that night at Bongos Cuban Cafe took pity on me as a solo diner. She seated me and acted as my personal server & drink pourer during my visit. She was a very generous bartender...and very cute. In my 50's, I find that cute women paying me any kind of attention is a grand ego boost. For my efforts, I left a $30 tip, spent $200 on prints, & was then propositioned by a gay man on the bus back to the hotel. I wasn't that drunk.
