    I also really like to drop just the high E to D, you can still play most things normally but it's suddenly a lot easier to play slide.

    That is a fantastic intro to Open D. I wish I had seen this when I jumped into open tunings. Kudos as usual to your very well thought out lessons. I might just get back into it. I went on to all sorts of open tunings.
