My band played a gig this last weekend and one of the people in the audience, who is a friend of the band, took a bunch of photos. It has been a long time since I had someone take photos of me while playing a gig so I was really excited to see how they turned out (pretty vain, I know).

We got them back yesterday and they look pretty darn good for cell phone photos! I personally think that my Fiesta Red T-Style looks AWESOME under the new lights that we got for gigs. Really excited until I noticed something....

My hair is REALLY starting to recede. Hadn't really noticed too much on a day to day basis, but under the direct lights on stage, it is way more noticeable.

Kinda got me bummed. I'm only 28 and although I have noticed over the last 5-6 years that my hair was starting to go, these photos really hit home for me. I guess it's payback for spending so much time in high school and college worrying about how my hair looked.

Anyone else have a hard time with the loss of their hair?

(Also this is a guitar forum, so I included a couple photos from the gig, more so because I was proud of the Tele I put together.)

Fortunately, bald is cool now, no one cares, especially not chicks.

My hair started going about the same time as yours, never slowed me down a bit, my GF is almost 20 years younger than me and we have been living together for 5 years.

If you don't make a big deal out of it, neither will anyone else.

The guys with the great hair that may make comments about your thinning hair are the insecure ones, they couldn't handle it if it happened to them.

Mine started receding, and thinning in the back, when I was 18. Hmmm, my father had the same issue, and both of my grandfathers were bald or balding. I got over it really quickly, since it was inevitable.

I would rather have my hair, but it does not bother me that I don't.

The worst part is always wearing a hat outside, or having to sunscreen the top of my head.

Love how all the bald guys get all puffy and insist it doesn't matter to women. Yeah, it does. I have proof.

Hats are cool if you can swing it. Some people just can't do hats. I've kept my hair pretty well (a genetic thing) but I don't really sweat it. What is, is.

And the T-style really does look great!

Actually you're okay for a couple more years. Have you considered maybe an SG and velvet shorts?

Baseball caps were invented for two purposes, to protect ball players eyes from sun glare and to protect musicians pates from stage lights. I have a collection of ball caps from Hawaii. Couldn't live without 'em.

Actually I’m way more stunned that you’re 28 you’re not swollen , and you don’t have a big beard !

(And an undersized/overtight short sleeve buttoned shirt , sleeve tats and those weirdball jeans/pajama’s with the tight elastic bottoms...)

There is nothing wrong with going bald, but everything wrong with appearing to be insecure about it. Just OWN that sh*t. Don't try to hide it or get implants or (god forbid) do a combover or start wearing a hat all the time. Just keep the hair you do have short, and stay in shape. And use suncreen. You'll be fine.

And sure, for most men it's the first sign that you're getting older and you'll never be young again. Big deal. Happens to everybody. Beats the hell out of the alternative.

My hair loss was first pointed out my senior year of high school. In my Latin II class we had TV monitors set up for a class that was participating remotely from another school and in one you could see the back of my head and my buddy looked up and said, "Oh my god! You're going bald!" It was terrifying to a 17 year old me, but I never saw any reason to get too worked up about it as there really isn't anything I can do about it. Surgeries and shampoos seem like snake oil. My opinion might be different if I were single.

I don't cut my hair, and I'm going bald, so I'm one of those old guys who are balding on top, with shoulder length hair, sometimes even a ponytail if I need to keep it from blowing around.

Lucky for me, my hair and my caring about it are disappearing at about the same rate.
