Agreed. Good movie.

Another good one directed by Stanley Kubrick is Spartacus.
That was my introduction to Kubrick, my dad had me watch it on TV as a kid.
"Paths of Glory" from is really worth a watch if you've never seen it. To me "Strangelove" and "Paths" are companion movies, they have similar themes, a few similar characters and at times visually they look similar...but are tonally opposite.

Yes, I’ve seen every one of Kubrick’s.

2001 was the first one. My parents took us to see it when it was in theatres. There was even a display case in the lobby with articles like the one’s in the movie, like shoes with velcro on the soles.

Paths of Glory is brilliant, pitiless, unutterably sad. The scene with the three scapegoats in their cell talking about the situation captures the helplessness and injustice in an almost documentary fashion. The ending…have your Kleenex ready. Completely unforgettable.

“You’ll have to answer to the coca-cola company.”

As a kid I thought he was a comedy character. But as an adult I’ve worked with a few people like that over the years. It’s the dead look behind the eyes that gives them away – that mid-20th-century shorthair psychopathy.
