Last summer, I mostly used my TMDR at home for practice on the highest level(s) of attenuation (lowest volume) when I had guests and a tenant staying. Now the TMDR mostly resides at my band's practice space but I wouldn't hesitate to use it that way for low volume home practice again.

I also have a ZT Lunchbox which gets used for convenient practicing/jamming and as a backup for gigs.

Other good practice options I've heard/played through:
Roland Cube series
Blackstar HT-1
Peavey Backstage

Hi,
The time has come to let my Fender Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb go as I am downsizing and pursuing other interests.
I bought the amp for gigs that didnt happen due to time, work and other pressing commitments. It never gets used.
I still want another amp for my Tele, but looking at something smaller and suit home and the odd jam.

I see locally a used Roland Blues Cube Hot, a Roland Jazz J22 for sale for a good price, as well as a Katana 50. Been also looking at small 5 watt valve amps such as Joyo Sweet Baby and a used Epiphone valve junior, (going cheap) which I want to pair with my Boss ME50 Multi Effects pedal.
I have a Yamaha THR10- hardly use it as I do like a 'bigger sound'.
Any thoughts please to help me make a decision here?
cheers
Check out the Fender Champion 40.

It has some nice Fender cleans and because it's SS there are some emulation of different Fender amps plus built in effects. Get the foot switch.

I think most of the Katanas and such that people are recommending are basically the same size as the TMDR.

Volume-wise, the TMDR is a lot bigger: it's 24x17x10" = 4,080 ci vs. the K50 at 16x19x9" = 2,736 ci. The TMPR is the smallest at 18x16x9" = 2,592 ci. (All dimensions rounded one way or the other. Just noticed that OP is in Australia, sorry for the non-metric numbers.)

I have to throw in with all of the other Katana recommendations. A big point in its favor is that it provides more capabilities internally than the ME-50, which means OP could jettison that, cover a third of the cost of the new amp and be left with less physical bulk and fewer cables.

The downside is that you'd need a computer to run Tone Studio for heavier twiddling of the effects or Katana Librarian (available for the Katana Mk I and Mk II on Android and iOS) since Boss doesn't have Tone Studio for mobile for that amp.

About 10 years ago I downsized from a Twin Reverb to a DRRI. Great amp. My back thanked me for it! Sold the Twin and never looked back. A year ago I downsized to a 65 Princeton RI tweed with a 12” speaker. Love it. Swapped out the speaker for an Jensen C12n and it was even better. Great amp. Perfect size and tons of Fender sparkle and chime. Keeping the DRRI for now but gets very little use.

Mk II, a local tech said the Mk I had a few inherent build issues, but the Mk II is solid and he rarely sees them.

I got a MkII as a backup, and it quickly became my main amp for gigging. For $150-175 used, a no-brainer.
Thanks, wasnt sure which, Mk1 or 2. Thanks for the clarification - cheers

What, the 23lb TMDR is not light enough for you? My Tele in it's hard case weighs about the same as that! 🤣

I guess you are going for less bulk? I can't think of any other reason. Because the attenuator will take care of low volume playing at home and for jams.

Yes! More for convenience. Hard to explain, but its doesn't really do it for me (even though a good amp), I cant leave it out set up and ready to go etc. It might seem like a winger but it doesn't inspire me to set it up, plug it and rip. I had an old Vox Valtronix and a little 5 watt tube amp that I plugged in all the time. I'm losing my interest in guitar, I pick up my acoustic more nowadays.

Lions & Tigers oh Mi !
.

Don't overthink it. Get a Joyo American Sound pedal and any amp that plays clean at the loudness you desire ... Even solid state! Yeah, yeah, glowing lightbulbs or nuthin' is your religion ...

The Joyo can give you the tone of all the Fender amps. It's $35ish.

Those Vox Pathfinder 15R are also really nice little amps. Not sure if they're any more easily available down there in Oz ;-)
Gigging with mine ( bought used $85) going on +10 years and looking to get a 2nd. ( backup)
- in D.C. area, they pop up occasionally.
I run mine with an always ON OD pedal to give amp a volume boost along with a good breakup.
The cleanup from guitar Volume knob (usually a Strat, Tele, Dano)
Is fantastic.
Love this amp!

If you don't mind getting a pre-owned amp, the Carr Mercury original version is awesome for home use. It could easily be gigged at a smaller venue too.
