“...the mighty ships tore across the empty wastes of space and finally dived screaming on to the first planet they came across - which happened to be the Earth - where due to a terrible miscalculation of scale the entire battle fleet was accidentally swallowed by a small dog.”

Brilliant writer, very sadly missed. A different author tried his hand at Hitchhiker's guide, but I didn't make it half way through the book sadly. Went to see the live radio show a few years ago, had me howling with laughter. I never tire of anything he wrote.

Never mind.

"A time will come when the whole world will go mad. And to anyone who is not mad they will say: 'You are mad, for you are not like us.'" - St. Anthony the Great (attributed to)

I've seen that quote before. But no, it indeed doesn't come from Hitchhiker's guide or Dirk Gently series. Still a true one; and somewhat sad methinks.
That particular quote doesn't come up with anything on google, so even if it was from something other than Hitchiker's Guide, it should get a hit from SOMETHING. I agree it sounds like it should be a quote from someone or something like Douglas Adams.....but??????

I found that the sixth book was good when the author forgot he was trying to be Douglas Adams - but yes, I couldn't finish it either...

My favourite Adams quote - I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
