CVC body w/ Classic 50's neck, Fender OV pickups, Fender hardware.

This wasn't a very expensive Tele to put together. Neck was $200 (has a bunch of flame in it and bought it directly from Fender a few years ago before they raised prices) the body cost me around $100 after I sold off all the other parts that came on the used CVC Tele I bought. Had a set of OV pickups in my parts box and then had a local shop make a bone nut and PLEK it and it's been the nicest Tele I've owned. Sold off some more expensive Teles including an 52AVRI and a couple Classic 50's Teles after this one turned out so nice. It growls and twangs on the bridge pickup and has a nice round, bluesy sound on the neck pickup. Weights in at 7.5lbs and went together effortlessly. Didn't need to shim the neck, the neck pocket is perfect, etc.

And a Partscaster I put together with a GFS body and the neck from a late 80s Squier II Contemporary Strat.

I asked for Shoreline Gold but I wouldn't say they nailed it. Very close though. Maybe leaning a touch to Aztec Gold.

Work in progress, impulse buy on a Fender neck, led to a Warmoth roasted ash body. Their surf green was waaaaay different than the neck. Off to Vancouver ( a trip to the old country! Not me, just the body and neck) to color match the body to the neck. Body and neck are headed back to Alaska now. Was gonna go Palo Duros, got a wild hair, have Fralins inbound.
Looking forward to rounding up the rest of the parts, putting the wee beastie together.

dO YOU THINK A STTANDARD TELE BRIDGE WOULD COVER THE hb BRIDGE HOLE ON THE jOHN 5?

Probably not. Here is my Squier Standard Series Special, that came with a HB in the bridge position with a thin plastic frame and hardtail bridge. I measured a Squier and a Fender Tele to get the pickup placed the correct distance from the nut. I didn’t enlarge the part of the rout any on the sides or the top, I just had to enlarge the rout for the bottom end where a Tele SC sticks out farther. I used plastic wood as filler and touched it up a little bit with some color, and it still shows where that HB’s rout, ears, and its pickup ring screw holes needed to extend wider than a Tele SC bridgeplate.
