I am a big fan of Mike Ness/Social Distortion. I love how in one song you can here punk, country, and rockabilly blended so perfectly. Thanks for posting.

I did a version of this at a memorial recently. I really wanted to rock it out a bit, but was outvoted by the guy who asked me to perform.

I like the solo a lot. Wish I had the chops!

Yeah, it's funny---when you attach Ness' name to a song title, you can practically "hear" it in your head before you ever actually hear it for real.

Hell (and for an example), if you were to say, "Have you heard Ness doing Parlez-Nous a Boire* ?" I could immediately hear how he would cover it. I can't think of too many (if any) others that are that distinctive with such a visceral voice+style connection.

* BTW, for context (and because it's the Balfa Bros.... and it's a Friday night):

Can't you imagine him making a slamming version of that? Don't you hear it?

Thanks for sharing! I learned this version A LONG time ago, and still find myself coming back it when I am practicing. I've never seen this live performance. Really made my night to watch it. I'm a Social D/Mike Ness nut. It's cool to see some of the threads and props he's been getting on this forum lately.

I'm off to learn who this Chris Lawrence dude is.

Thanks!

I'm not a huge mike ness fan, despite being really into both punk and old country. However, I do like his version of this. I find Dylan really off putting and tend to prefer his songs when done by other people.

The Johnny Cash version of this is superb.
