Seems like something I hear a lot on forums about gear is

"Oh yeah, I had one of those for awhile. Sold/traded it back in blah-blah year. Wanted back ever since."

Or alternatively "I bought on of those in 97', sold it in 99' missed it and bought another one in 2000'."

I know I've let go of some things I wish I could have back. Just bought my second Boss DD6 after I was dumb enough to think I needed sixty bucks more than I needed my first one. What is the guitar/amp/pedal/whatever you got rid of and quickly wanted back? Maybe we can learn from each other's mistakes.

I’d like my 1963 Epiphone Texan, 1955 Gold Top Les Paul, 1968 Les Paul Gold Top, and a 2000 1954 Les Paul Custom reissue back.
Not bad, considering the zillions of guitars I’ve had.

getting my marshall class 5 back this week, its modded heavy- to el34,variac -boost and its going to my amp guy to somehow get it to gig levels and add effects loop and line out. If so, it will be my living room amp and a stage amp that weighs about as much as a lunchbox

60’s n/r Firebird. 3P90. It was the 80’s and I HAD TO HAVE something pointy. Gawd I was an idiot. Also traded a ‘61 Les Paul (SG) for a quarter pound of weed in 1979. DOH!! Dumb ass kid was I....

I'd like to get back 3-4 guitars I've had stolen (over time), but that's a different subject!
As far as gear I had and sold for one reason or another, and wish I had back, this is easy:

    Epiphone Casino, Cherry
    '68 Deluxe Reverb
    ' 66 Ampeg Gemimi amp
Fender MIJ JD Tele- bound burgundy
    BARBER LTD OD pedal

    * All items I hated to sell ( over years, and years ago), but had $$ hardships

I once had a '76 Les Paul Standard that I wouldn't mind having back.

Other than that, just a few vintage Fender amps that I let go.

'73 Fender Strat, sold in 1992 for $250 or so because everyone knew how bad 70's Strats were.

In the 70s I had a '55 es225, with one p90 that just roared. Traded it for an acoustic. I miss that 225. Now I can't afford one.

Maybe making this thread was a mistake. Reading all these stories of pain and loss is just bumming me out.

In the early 80s I sold a mint fender bassman head, because I wanted a high gain amp, jealous of our lead guitarist’s mesa boogie. I’ve mentally slapped myself many times for that.

This thread should serve as a cautionary tale for those contemplating reducing their gear “just because”.

    My sad shortlist

    -66 Super Reverb
-71 Fender Jazz Bass and a Versatone Bass amp
    -pair of Blackface Bassman 50’s
    -59 Telecaster toploader that I didn’t appreciate in 1975[emoji22]
    -64 Strat
    -68 Les Paul Custom
    -88 sunburst American Standard Stratocaster

I got great gear now tho so the tears have dried up[emoji2][emoji450]

The Jazz Bass Sale was the most hard to explain and most painful that was a special friend with many stories to tell....

    Good thread

‘97 Jimmie Vaughn Tex Mex Stratocaster. The earliest run with the hard V below the 5th fret. Traded it. I still wake up weeping.

    - 2 Les Paul Jrs (a '57 & a '65)
    - '79 Rickenbacker 4001

There's a long list, but these stand out the most. Sold/traded for a fraction of their value of course.

I had a 40th anniversary Jaguar that was blonde with a tort guard and gold hardware. What a bonehead to have sold that one!

Not so sure about selling, I usually won’t if I know I like it.

Now gear that was stolen, that’s a different story. Maybe that’s a different thread.

The first Tele I had was a blue MIM that I gave away. I eventually bought a 52 and a Baja 60’s but I miss the MIM.

I also wish I still had my Hot Rod Deville 410.
