hey guys, i have a donner telecaster that I need to put a new nut on. Tried a graph tech pt-5000 but it was quite off (string spacing mostly) anyone have one of these and know what nut would be the best choice to put on it?

I don't know what your level of interest would be in making a nut yourself, but if the original nut had proper spacing, then cutting a new one from a blank using the original as your template is certainly one option. You just need the files, which are a sound investment for anyone with a growing stable of guitars.

There were a few different nut widths on Squiers over the years. I'd measure the original nut with calipers, then find the closest fit. I seem to remember Graph Tech having all of the dimensions published on their website when I was looking for a nut for an older Epiphone.
