Any clues as to the amp(s) Don used on that song. Overheard an argument that he used a Deluxe Reverb that Howard Dumble did some work on.

That lead tone is exceptional regardless.

It is killer lead tone. I understand the Hotel Calif lead was a 5E3 dimed. It sounds a lot like that lead also. but.... hmmm...

Not sure. Rhythm tracks sound Fendery. But he's clearly using a fuzz on the solo.

EDIT: OK I think he's using a fuzz.

I always wanted to convert a Twin chassis into two 6V6 amps. The main channel a simple BF Deluxe non reverb or the Brown Vibrolux style. The old "normal" channel would be a 5E3 channel, set up for leads only, like the Hotel Calif setting. One channel into each 12" Twin speaker. Just an A/B switch pedal for channel switching. No OD pedals required and that thick articulate tone! OMG

I always assumed it was fuzz, because it certainly doesn't sound like either amp OD or pedal OD, to me.

    Maybe straight to the board?

IMO the song that put the Eagles on the map - they were clearly not going to get mistaken for Poco or the Flying Burrito Bros again. Thank you Don Felder.

he went through about a dozen tweed deluxes until he found two that he liked. I do not know which of the final ones he used. I do not believe HAD was involved, but could have been (in theory)

Joe Walsh was just on that AXS TV show with Paul Shaffer and they talked about it a bit. Not the amp,
but the transitions and playing that song with them.

Felder does a great job with his current band (as of last summer) with it as well

Plug and Play. Dime it. Roll the guitar tone down as necessary.... Add "fingers"... :)

Schmee, it is not a Dual or stereo amp as you bare envisioning, but have you ever played through a Tone King Imperial MKII? It accomplishes just what you are laying out but with only one output section. I believe the ?Sky King is a larger version of the same thing. The Imperial MKII is an amp I would own IF I needed another amp.

I heard it was just a saggy tweed deluxe loud as can be without a fuzz pedal or anything but I’m not sure

I haven't, Have heard good things about them though. In the end, the dual amp idea was for outdoor shows etc where you can play loud, I couldn't play a dimed Tweed Deluxe on leads in a club... :>)
