Dog locks herself in bathroom

OK, its been 3 days that we come home and the dog has locked herself in the bathroom. This dogs psychological problems are getting worst as she gets older, we have an appointment with a behaviorist in 2 weeks. My girlfriend and I are debating , as to how this happens, I think she is afraid and closes the door. Anyone ever seen that?
We have 2 cats (one is a fairly recent aqcquisition) and when they start playing at 4 in the morning she freaks out, so I am thinking they get cat fit during the day and she hides.
Anyways, anyone had a similar experience where a dog intentionally locked itself in a room?
i set up a cage in a corner with blankets so she can go in there and feel secure, we'll see.
Going to the vet tonight because she has an ear infection I will mention it.
Also she his a stuffed ball freak always playing with one, but when we throw the ball and it goes behind a bedroom door, she is too afraid to get it, so it makes me wonder how she can close the bathroom door!

Had a post earlier this week on her "mind". Absolutley terrified of thunder, even 30 miles away, afraid of people cracking lobster shells, freaking out when the cats play early morning, etc...

My dog used to close herself in the bathroom while I was gone. Happened several times. I think she liked to go in their and check things out and would bump the door or hit it with her tail and it would get pushed towards closed...at that point she would probably nose at it and end up bumping it completely closed rather than open. Once she was closed in their she would HOWL like crazy. She's not a very vocal dog but I would hear her howling from the driveway when I would come home. She would also wreak havoc on the roll of toilet paper while she was in their.
Now I try to remember to close the bathroom door when I leave so she's locked out instead of in.

Put a big rolled towel between the door and the jamb that blocks the door from closing.

I have a crazy Labrador that manages to get herself stuck in the bathtub. We come home and hear her whining and barking, look around and find her in the upstairs bathroom, in the tub.

We don't know how she manages this, but she does it somehow.

She also gets herself stuck behind the Guinea Pig (Cavy) cage. The cage is set underneath a table, and the dog loves to sniff for anything on the floor the Pig manages to kick out of his cage. She gets behind the cage is gets stuck. I guess her reverse gear is not working well.

She would usually just push the door closed and be unable to open it...not really locked. A couple of times in her attempts to get out she did push the lock button on the door, probably pawing or nosing it.
There's a small hole in the door handle on the outside...push a nail, wire, toothpick etc through that hole and it unlocks the door from the outside. It's an interior bathroom door, not a deadbolt.

my dog hangs out in the bedroom closet, but only when i'm not home... but he keeps the door open ... he likes it there, so i put a dog bed in ... it's his dogcave now ...

My cat Buddy once ended up shut in the master bedroom. I thought he'd chased something behind the open door and ended up pushing it shut...then I noticed that particular door has a tendency to swing mostly shut on its own -- and when the central A/C or heat comes on and the intake outside that door starts drawing air, it can pull the door all the way closed until it actually latches. Opening and then shutting the door between the entrance hall and the garage has a similar effect. I ended up getting one of those rubber door stops to keep the bedroom door open.

Had greyhounds years ago,one of them went into a dark bathroom and shut the door by accident,while we were at work.She tore the crap outta that room,trying to get out.Broken glass and chewed up moulding and door.

You need to take her to your vet. Noise/storm phobias can be treated with meds and training. Make sure you use a vet who has an interest in behavioral problems and you'll be on the right track. Good luck.
