Just wondering. I'm sure most of you play several genres, but if you had to pick one, which do you play the most?

Heh, actually it's a weird mix of folk, surf, country, punk, slowcore, and blues.

Old school R&B, mainly. Funk and soul, too.

Blues/Blues rock. Nothing else anymore. I must be getting old and set in my ways.

Okay, I will break out into, "Walk Don't Run" once in a rare while ;), but even then, you can argue that it is the same genre.

Its Friday, anybody playing funk on a tele has a gig right now....

    ;)

Why no punk? There was a time that's what I used my tele for....

Where is "POP" in the choices? Pop seems likely to be a much more widely listened-to genre than several of the other choices? How about "Indie"?

It does seem, historically and currently, that a preponderance of guitarists play "blues" (at least initially) even though "blues" is not particularly all that popular across our culture. Blues being the basis for most of rock and jazz - blues is a good place for guitarists to start out.

If the option were available, I'd cast my vote for pop/rock/indie.

well, I play mostly modern P&W at this point, but I suppose that falls into adult contemporary really, maybe with some light rock? I guess?

Where's pop music? Nothing but Thieves and Bloc Party are the bands that made me get a tele as my #1

I play R&B more than funk, so... I know it's a disappointment.

Yeah Rock, maybe Jazz Rock or Prog Rock, with some Funk to the rhythm, slithering into soul R&B.
    No Blues though!
    Can't stand the Blues!

A snarling Tele Rocks with ease, better still an Esquire.

I voted rock but I play in a very wide-ranging band (soul, blues, R&B…) and anything that is not swing can be played with my tele. Swing could too, of course, but I prefer my acoustic archtops + DeArmond for that.

My Tele can play almost anything.
    It’s operator, not so much.
It gets the most exercise playing country.
    It doesn’t seem to mind.
