We take them along when we can. The only problem is that they want to be all over us.

On a visit to Dairy Queen about 2 years ago now.

I have a hound that goes crazy when I ask if she wants to go for a ride. But when she actually gets in the truck she lays right down and sleeps the whole time.

Yes, pretty much her entire life. She pretty much lives for it. She's a talkative dog and goes to the mudroom suggesting we ride. If we've had a great trail ride in the day she might wake me up at night suggesting another.

She even has favorite trail segments. She prefers steep, big berms and gap jumps.

Yesterday I took the GoPro hoping to catch it because she'll be 10 and will probably slow down soon. She still likes an up to 10 mi run with my wife and 5 - 8 mile MTB ride.

She likes trail building too. She's supervised bridge building and does a special sort of anti-help around people using dangerous tools.

She rides in the car and stands on bow of the sailboat too. She's not a fan of the tractor.

All I had to do was say one word ...
Car ... and Ben (see avatar) would bolt to the door all excited and ready to roll ..
. Even the jingling of car keys would get a similar reaction ... he liked boat rides also ...

Thumper the Useless Terrier still likes to ride in the car, but due to being mostly deaf and blind (him, not me), he gets less excited when he gets to go somewhere.

It’s funny to see how he’ll be bored and calm until he realizes where he is (my parents’ place or the groomer bring the biggest response...he and my dad are buds and he’s in love with our groomer); since he can’t see where he is, I assume there’s some kind of scent he associates with those locations.

I've had multiple golden retrievers and have driven a few right hand drive cars in the US, but sadly never both at the same time. Seems like there would be a good time in there somewhere.

Tuffers rides in the back... he can't wait for a road trip, even if it's just for a walk round the lake, but his favourite destination of all is the vet's. He drags me in and gets so much fuss from the nurses and would hang around all day if he could.

He used to ride in the front with me when I had a Transit van, but one day I had to break a bit sharply for a sheep that wandered into the road and he fell off the seat... so I reckoned it was better for him to be in the back. I built him a little den in the back of the Transit, but he didn't like not being able to see out.

One of our dogs loves to go go go everywhere... you can't hardly get out the door without him on your heels. Our other dog is a home girl and only wants to be at her house and yard. Putting her in the car is an unpleasant experience for all involved.

My best girl Sam went for her last car ride back in December. I’m still sad about it. I think her greatest joy in her younger days was to go for s ride in the car. Sam was a Jack Russell terrier. She would wait for my wife or I to be focused on the road. Then she jumped up over our shoulders and draped herself like a stole so she could look out the side window and through the windshield. We’d recline the seat a little and try not to be spotted by the troopers.

The two bigger dogs love car rides, although old lady Georgia is having a hard time getting into the truck anymore. Both are used to long rides, and generally just chill out in the back seat and watch the world go by or snooze. My back windows are full of "nose art" afterwards.

Yep, she sure does, in the back seat of my pickup. She’s happy to go for a ride to the woods, lake, park or even the grocery store.

    That's one of Harley's nicknames, too. Also: Turd-slinger, Poop-chute, ...
