My cat hates it when I play my tele - or any other - through an amp. She takes off for another room. If I have it real quiet she might stay but as soon as I turn it up a bit - cat is gone.

I know they have much better hearing than humans but I have to say - I am a bit insulted considering just how much I paid for a deluxe and boutique amp.

TDPRI players: are your cats tele haters too?

Neither my cat or my dog is particularly fond of my playing, though my wife says I'm getting better.

What the cat does like to do when the Tele is leaning against the couch is to scratch its face and clean its teeth with the short protruding ends of the strings.

Our cats aren't bothered by my playing, but as I type this one of them is asleep on my Jagmaster (it's in a gigbag on the sofa) :)

My cat regularly sleeps in my guitar rig . . but in the strat-part of it. Dunno if she does'nt like Teles . .
If it's getting too loud for her she leaves, no matter what kinda guitar i play.

I once had a cat (male) that clawed at me when i played blues-harp. I must admit i'm quite bad at it.

I start playing and the cat goes downstairs and the dog comes up.

My old cat often sits on top of the amp or the cab when I playing.. tube warmth...

18 yrs old, must be deaf....;)
he might give you a strange look if the bass is vibrating him... but never bolts outside...

here he is working hard keeping a freshly glued blank warm ... helps to keep the glue at a constant temp...

I left the strings long at the headstock on my acoustic once and the cat loved to play with the strings. When I cut them short he resorted to biting the capo that is on the headstock. Every time I pick that guitar up he comes up and looks for the strings, paws a little then bites the capo. My cats love my playing :)

Our cats run a mile whenever I start playing guitar. The dog seems to like it though and often comes into the music room when she hears me playing. The trebly bite of a Tele bridge pickup doesn't seem to hurt her high frequency-sensitive ears. When she was a puppy, she used to sit next to the amp and howl along.

He likes the Strat better than the others because he likes to chew on the whammy bar tip for some reason...

yeh, Romans cat looks like he's ready to jump onto a pedal for the lead break change..

    well trained....

unless you're playing to mice in the barn...and he's got his eyes on the fat chick mouse in the front row.... mmmmmmm

my cat likes to sit on the corner on my table.. and has had the odd swipe at the strings and my hand playing a tele... cat muting..so thinking about it, he has played guitar....
he recognises that my hands moving on that thing corresponds with the sounds coming out the amp...

My current cat, Tommy Eve, a small female Siamese, seems to like my playing.
She hangs out with me no matter guitar what I play.
About 25 years ago, I decided to learn to play fiddle.
My dad, a great fiddler, gave me good fiddle and a few lessons.
When I would practice at my house, my two kittens would literally run up my back.
They did it a couple of times.
    I must have stunk.
I told em' the strings were not cat gut.
    I finally gave up.
    Do they make fretted fiddles?
    My intonation must have stunk.

My dog hates it... she gets all scared and walks away with her tail between her legs.

She does however love the classical and jumps on the couch and trys to squeeze inbetween me and the guitar for a nap.

My cat was never bothered much by my Tele playing, just gave me a derisory glance if it was too loud. Then I brought home a set of bagpipes and gave them a blast, cat looked a bit nervous as I started blowing them up, shot out the room when the drones kicked in and didn't see her again for a week! Not sure if it was my playing or the thought that I was being eaten alive by the strange looking beast I was holding that freaked her. I like to think it wasn't the playing but I'm probably wrong.
