There's "truth" and then there's "alternative facts". We are living Orwell's "1984" in real time. "Don't believe what you read. Don't believe what you see." Really? Use critical thinking skills even if the answer is not what you really want it to be.

    Oh, and IBTL...

When wasn't it always this way? Let's see, how about several hundred years ago:

    "SHE'S A WITCH! BURN HER!"

Or maybe several hundred years before that:

    "INFIDEL! OFF WITH HIS HEAD!"

People will believe almost anything if it gives them an excuse to burn someone at the stake.

no such thing as truth. it is really only opinion. that's like people saying there is a reason for something happening but they don't state the reason.

Objective facts exist; relative truth is an interpretation ...

A glass in neither half-full nor half-empty; it simply holds X quantity of liquids or air or whatever quantifiable atoms or molecules. That is a fact.

The "truth" is optimism or pessimism or whatever other BS people lay on it ...

Depending on the direness of the situation, either can be acceptable ...

... trust me ... as a former high school journalism teacher, member of the Fourth Estate and current school administrator, I get "truth" from all sides ...

    Just my $.02, YMMV ...

And you're not contradicting yourself by making a truth-claim, how?

Of course it exists, just don't rely upon the internet and popular media to reveal it to you. Look within Luke.

A question like this is a sign of the times.

It's sure to bring out all the corn-pone philosophers, too.

Death is truth, as is life, what you do between those periods is called reality. You deal with many falsehoods on the journey, and if your lucky, you know what is real and what is not. Some times, aging can be an unforgiving master.

There is no such thing as truth. Truth is merely a human term that may or may not apply to anything spoken or written by man. Trees, rocks, the sun, and the moon, and stars are unaffected by truth. Fish in the sea, give it not a thought, a rattle snake neither lies or tells the truth, he MAY warn you if he's offended by your presence before biting you, but he's just as likely not to.

The light from the most distant stars has not yet reached our planet since man began to contemplate such things, so they are not affected by truth. They only are. For those who pretend there is truth in the world, talk to a lawyer, he will soon convince you there is no such thing as the truth. From a lawyer's point of view, the truth is something you manipulate to prove your case, whether it's actually true or not matter none at all.

Hafta define exist before we can confirm or deny that truth does that.

Or even define the nature of defining a thing as singular and independent.

A definable truth might be that the nature of reality is constantly changing interconnetedness.

    Any other truths require fabrication.
