This guitar looks great but zoomed in, there are little black hair-like lines or cracks. Is this known thing or considered a potential problem down the road? 404C811F-C327-4661-8C28-1A0DA501F46C.jpeg 342A6A6D-B07A-4A9E-8D94-E9855399C0FB.jpeg 4190BA0A-1B9B-40C5-88B0-F0587EFDEFEE.jpeg

I can’t really see that there is a problem. To me, that looks like some character/personality in the wood grain.

It really wouldn’t bother me a bit. In fact, I rather like it.

    Hi.

Is that not just the natural grain?

Without the blue arrows, I wouldn't have known what the 'problem' was.

Yep. Known as mineral stains. They're not cracks or defects that degrade the material. That is part wood the wood itself, caused by dissolved minerals from the soil being drawn into the tree and collecting in the fibers. Alder and ash commonly have this character. Here's red oak with a similar thing going on:

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know what that small sticker on the neck plate
means? It looks like a wheeled trash can icon with an "X" over it.

Glad to see that the consensus it that there doesn't seem to be a problem with the wood.

    Yup just “character”

I have a les Paul with a streak about 6 inches long going lengthwise down from the headstock onto the neck, been there since new

It almost looks like a crack but is just one of these streaks

It means don’t throw it in the trash because of the electronics. They should be recycled. I wish they would stop putting those stickers on guitars so that people would toss them in the trash, and I could find them.

I'm going to guess it's there because... CaLiFoRnIa. well, maybe not just them but it seems every product I get these days has one unique warning that is California specific.
