Does this widely used progression have a name?

    Does this chord progression have like, any sort of name? It's widely used, and yet I'm only now realising that.

    What other songs use this progression?
    it gets sort of hidden in the different songs, like a chameleon.

    Not sure I know a name for that Chordal run. In say starting with a Cm it would be :
    Cm, Gaug, D#, D#m, the way I use it, mostly just 3 or 4 note chords

    No specific name but chord progressions such as that are commonly called "harmonic cliches".

    C.E.S.H - chromatic/contrapuntal embellishment of static harmony.
    Yes - they are cliches but they can still be cool.
    Isolation by John Lennon is another one that springs to mind - the 5th of the I chord is raised by 1/2 steps (augmented to sixth to b7).
    My Funny Valentine uses the minor variant of descending from the root on the tonic chord (minor to major minor (or augmented) to minor 7 to minor 6 (or IV7 over the 5th)
