Thanks for your replies!!! To clarify, it’s 38000 argentinian pesos, here imported guitars cost more than twice as much sometimes

Warrent is correct. The red one my buddy had was the same. I had forgotten about the Squier series bit.

This is the lowest tier one they made.

They may have had some parts remaining in 1995, and so making those parts up into guitars to be sold to Argentina; super plausible. My sense is that this guitar is on the up and up.

But I want to express my dissent with Schmee's supposition, that these tuners will work fine. I don't think they will, so the buyer has to decide whether the guitar stays original (but works sub-par) or whether the guitar is modified and gets some decent tuning machines.

Look up "Black Label MIM" and you'll see the run was from '93-'98.

The fire at the Ensenada factory needed the body/neck parts from the USA. For the most part, maybe not exclusively.

The electronics, tuners and hardware came from Mexico and Asia.

If I remember. The Traditional series had the alnico pickups, the Squier Series had the ceramics. My Strat had the ceramics. Please don't trust my memory, I don't.

The trapezoidal tuners, while not too bad (YMMV) , were usually replaced. I replaced mine, just because I could.
