Even with medication this itch continues to get out of hand. Why do we have the greatest guitar ever made and look at more and more guitars??

What are you doing with your guitars that would cause an itch?

Thirty-plus years into playing, and I still get that itch...it becomes less, but it’s still there.

I’ve found the itch never goes away but it does get faint at times.

I've found that trying to get better at playing the durn thing distracts me from shopping, and maybe that's why it's sometimes called woodshedding?
    No internet in the woodshed?

Really not having cravings for more gear lately but I opened a thread last night titled "Classic Rock guy mods his Tele" and the multiple pics of a Bigsby equipped Tele did get me going a little since I have no Bigsby and never use a bar.

I've found that once you have everything it dies down...I like having guitars to look at while I play one apperently.

I find mine fades the more I play and the less I read about gear or watch about gear on the internet...never fully goes away, though.

It’s all about tone . Get rid of that affliction and you will be ok.

I found that finally realizing that I'm never going to sound like whatever record I was trying to emulate and that that was a good thing helped me immensely. I have a decent spread of guitars, but only play about 2-3 of them much because they're ones that make me sound like me, not me trying to sound like whoever. I'm now in a big downsizing trend and feeling better with every piece I sell off or give away.

I still peruse listings looking for deals on interesting guitars, but don't buy very often. And when I do anymore, it's more to be able to really inspect different guitars and force myself to try new things and understand the builder's approach to the instrument. Much more academic than anything I suppose?

No. There’s always something else... at least for me. I’ve gone years without buying a guitar, then it hits me like the flu.

I have one parts caster I’m assembling and already know what parts caster I’m building after that.

In the meantime, I need to figure out a pedalboard...

NO, never ever. Look at the Reverend Willie G. Highly successful band, together over fifty years, he is still chasing tones, if it could be bought, I think he would got what he was looking for by now.

No, it doesn't. Sometimes you find yourself buying one just because it's $17.99

I just started building Partscasters with custom bodies and necks. It's like I'm eating beans all day. I got your itch right here.

My local music store is closed for inventory today!

So my Gas is good for today. Sadly, I was there yesterday and found out that a Friedman I had my eye on was gone.

That didn’t stop me from “Eyeing” a couple of acoustic’s that well ..... you already know the rest lol

I'll say that in my case, the itch goes away when it's scratched right. The amp itch went away when I got a Mesa Boogie Express 5:25. I use the two clean channels only, one set for jazz and one for twang. I have no need or even desire for another. I play others when I have the chance but I'm perfectly happy to leave them in the store. The guitar itch vanished when I got a CS '69 Strat. I use the middle pickup almost 90% of the time with the tone dimed through a BOSS EQ-200 to roll off the highs in a very controlled manner. I found MY tone. I still play my other four electrics and enjoy their differences, but my CS '69 gets more playing time than all the others combined. I still like to pick up other guitars when I'm in a good shop, but I don't feel like I need to buy one of them. The best way I can describe it is like this. I've been married to the same woman for 44 years. She's a good one. I still like to dance with the pretty girls when I get the chance but I have no need to bring one of them home with me. Itch scratched.
