Haruo Nakajima was an actor who wore the Godzilla suit for 12 consecutive movies. He was the first actor to play Godzilla back in 1954. He also played other famous monsters like "Rodan" (1956) and Kong in "King Kong Escapes" (1967). Sadly, he passed away just a few months ago. He was 88.

Cool post! I always liked those movies! It must have been tough to wear that costume in the water!

88 is a good run... I'll think of Haruo next time I watch one of these movies....

Are you BAD MEN, trying to tell me that those monsters attacking Japan, and the rest of the world weren't real, and that they were just some little guys dressed up in rubber suits? Is there nothing sacred? Sheesh.

I can't recall whether Godzilla rang any bells in any of the movies I saw.

He may have scaled the odd bell tower or crushed one underfoot....did I hear any bells?...not so sure..

He did the work and Raymond Burr got top billing. Also, I'm pretty sure even Godzilla was dubbed.
