Does it have to have a big name on the headstock to be a great guitar?

Hi guys, just recently got delivery of Tele style guitar, this would have to be the best priced and very playable guitar with a tweed case , it has 22 frets, bone nut, locking machine heads, 14" radius neck humbucker pickups with coil tap, body is American Ash finished in natural gloss, neck is satin finished maple C shaped smoothed edge frets. All I had to is tune it up and start playing, not a mark or scratch so for $370 aud and free delivery, always been a fender man from back in the early 60's, this would have to give the big guys a run for their money ,only downside is. its a bit heavier than my tele here's a few pics and they don't do it justice.

Sounds like a pretty nice guitar. If it sounds good to you and feels good, then it is good regardless of what's on the headstock.

Really, the only time it really matters is for resale. Big names carry larger prices. A great guitar is a great guitar. All that matters while you own it is that you like it.

    Congrats.

I can't say. I've never owned one that didn't have a big name.

I don't care about the brand for its own sake. It's more important to me that the headstock itself look good, as well as whatever branding is on it. But I don't care what it says.

I have 2 Tele-ish guitars in particular that I built & I consider them great guitars, as do most of my cohorts. There isn't a single letter or character on the headstock. My avatar guitar is one of the two.

At the end of the day, they're all just a bunch of guitars. :)

A great guitar is one that's reliable, plays great, and has a great personality.

Love my SX Strat Copy--I have $250 in this one after I upgraded the pickups to Fender Tex Mex and the caps/pots to Fender MIA:

One of those Artist TC-59 teles has been on my '"wish" list for a while.

Apart from the weight, I haven't seen a negative comment about them yet.

Absolutely not. Partscaster built by a friend in NJ. Lacquer finished Warmoth body which was gigged in a totally different configuration of parts for 11 years so it has real wear, mystery neck made by “some guy in Mississippi”, with 59 Lester profile and Fender scale length, very smooth raw wood finish, Lollar blackface pickups. Wilkinson vibrato. Master tone. Master volume pulls out so neck pickup is always on but out of phase from normal so you get tons of different sounds. I’d put it up against any Fender custom shop deal. My number 1.
