Does anyone use SG cases for their Telecasters?

I saw someone on here who said they use a hard case meant for a Gibson SG for their Squier CV Tele. I would like to do the same, since the standard rectangular cases for strats/teles are a little cumbersome, and typically too expensive. Does anyone know how compatible SG cases and standard size teles are? Meaning, can I buy any random case meant for an SG (see example below) and be reasonably sure a tele will fit? Or will it only work with particular cases?

You can definitely get fitted cases designed to fit Strat/Teles (usually fit both). I have a few in ABS. SKB do a ‘chainsaw’ style one. For the wooden, fitted Gibson style though, that seems a little more elusive for Fender guitars (except basses). Can you get to a store and try it? If you call one, they might even try it for you if they’re feeling generous! :)

An SG is about an inch and a half longer than a Telecaster. I have a wedge shaped Gig bag that has removable foam rectangles. I can put one at the bottom of the bag for the tele, remove it it for the SG. In terms of width they appear to be the same. So, if the hard case is long enough to fit for an SG, it should also accomidate the tele but it will need a pad of some sort to prevent shifting in the case.

A properly made SG case is also ramped in heel area so that the heel and neck get full support along with the neck itself up higher.

SGs are actually the hard one to find a case / bag for unless it's made for an SG because they are so long.

I have an 80s Gibson SG chainsaw case. My Tele will not fit.

OK, just tried putting my American Series Tele in my two hardshell SG cases, one aftermarket and one Gibson that came with the guitar. It fit like a glove in the aftermarket case - I think I got as a Stupid Deal of the Day a few years ago, couldn't find a brand name on the case. Didn't fit in the actual Gibson case though. Not even close. Curves don't line up.

Nope. Ive a 1974 sg case and given the neck pitch my teles don't fit in it and it does not fit in the flat rectangle cases my teles do.

My SG case from Musicians Friend fits my Tele perfectly. I would not have guessed that.

Answers are all over the place in this thread. Obviously my dream of just being able to buy any ol' SG case online and have it fit is not going to work. But if there is a aftermarket case I can see and try out in person, there is a possibility it could work.

One of the so-called "thermometer" cases would probably also check the boxes for what I'm after, but those tend to be more expensive than I would like too.

I have one of these in the gold fake alligator skin cover with leopard skin interior. It's not cumbersome, has ample storage space, and isn't over-the-top pricey.
