Last night I'm playing around with what might be my favorite amp, my Carl's Custom Amp 5F1 and got to thinking I wonder what this sound like with a 12" speaker. Plugged my 12" Weber from my Carl's 5E3 into the 5F1 and loved it. Got me thinking about finding a 1x12 cabinet to fit the 5F1 chassis but can't seem to find one?
Anyone make these or am I looking at a custom build?

I usually get my cabinets from Mather Cabs. He will make anything you want - decent prices and excellent work.

For my current 5F1 based amp, I just made it in 'lunchbox' format and plug it into whatever I want - currently my homemade Tweed Deluxe/Princeton Reverb sized extension cabinet (16"x20"x10") with a baffle cutout for a 12" speaker and a homemade adapter for 10". I've mostly settled on a 10" Copperhead which sounds great with a cranked 5F1.

There are a number of folks here on TDPRI who build them... PM me if you'd like. (I guess I'll need to buy a vendor membership before too long)

I have a 5F1 in a Princeton cab with a Weber 12A125A 20W and it sounds great! I did reduce the cathode bypass cap from 25uf to 1uf, necessary to get a nice high/midrange balance and less bass flub. If you'd be into finishing your own cab I just received this email today from MojoTone.

Just to note this cab is not their typical finger jointed type but is actually two boxes in one with the outer having lap joint construction. Not sure if the price is worth it compared to a finished cab with everything done for another $150 or so... Nonetheless, its a deluxe sized cab with 12" baffle.

Thanks. The carcass is pine, the facia is poplar. Finish is sprayed transtint dye with clear poly topcoats.
I guess I need to invest in some spray equipment... I'm finishing up a pine cab right now and it's not turning out quite like I hoped... Finishing mine in a vinager solution and shellac... Go figure...

pine can be quite fussy to stain.

There’s a guy in Fresno, CA that builds cabs. He has a store on EBay. I’ve never bought one, but if I do, he’s close enough that I can go pick one up. They look really well made.

axis29 built me a baffle for my sears 1482 that replaced the rattly masonite. it sounds great.
then he built me a cab for my 10" weber silver bell speaker. great cab and great sound. i can take two of the 3 back panels off for open back sound.
thanks john,

Carl does make a 12" tweed extension cab. Not the same as a new cab, I know, but...
