Does anyone like humbuckers on Telecasters?

DHart, that Firebird Strat is beautiful. I’ve not seen that one before

wbl... thank you. I just did this mod a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love the tone. (I do have other conventional Strats, so wanted a very different variant.). Rob at Cavalier made these Firebird pickups for me - he is quite the master at making these the traditional way.

Absolutely beautiful guitar... and an awesome pickup set up, badscrew.

My experience, after once trying Firebird pickups, is exactly the same as yours!

I currently have a Firebird in a Tele, two in a Strat, and two in an ES-339.

And at present, one of my ES-Les Pauls is slated to get a pair of Firebirds installed, replacing the humbuckers.

Firebird pickup tone is so, rich, full, deep, and sparkly bright. Very clean and clear, as well. Kind of like a full-bodied Fender single-coil pickup, but with more oomph. And not a peep of noise. Beyond that - I totally love the look of a Firebird pickup, as well. Couldn't ask for more from a great pickup design.

I'm sure there are plenty of great sounding exceptions but for me, a Tele should to have single coils.
Isn't it great that Teles (and Strats) can be configured in pretty much any-which-way a person might like them to be! (Different necks, bridges, pickups, electronics - so many options.)

We've got Leo to thank for enabling that amazing versatility/modularity.

Yes, they're designed & built to be messed with!

In '80 or so I had the neck pu in my '72 replaced with a Seymour Duncan HB, no recollection of which particular one ... it was considerably louder than the bridge pu; I liked it okay but didn't love it, and later on regretted it. Traded it for one of the first Gibson Nighthawks, big mistake. No pics, sorry!
