I'll play along.
I built this little beauty based on an Esquire I saw online once. It's a pine body with an ash top, unfilled grain and a belly cut. The initial pics it had Keystones in it. Now (see last pic), it has Porters (Custom bridge, 9t neck). Neck is from a 50's Baja. Dig:
Black 50's tele's with white guards and Black double bound custom tele's with maple necks both rock. I don't have one favourite but that are both on my list of favourites.
I love black for almost any guitar...it always looks cool.I own this amazing Squier classic vibe 60s Tele custom in limited edition black:
I also own this amazing AVRI 72 Thinline Tele that I installed a black pickguard on:
I despise black guitars..... but 2 of my 3 telecasters are black... and I even sold a black one...
Single CS nocaster pickup
Single Dimarzio SD...
I love 'em, as long as the guard is highly contrasting (i.e. white or gold-anodized aluminum), and the fretboard is maple or ebony (or at least dyed black).
I am the original owner of a 2003/2004 Aerodyne (which I have been meaning to put a contrasting guard on for almost 15 years), and I put together this guy/gal/whatevritis (sorry for the bad pic from during the build, but it's all I have):
Cool. What kind of bender apparatus is that?
Here is my Glendale Tele with a Asher Tort PG;
Agree with the OP, I dont really like all black guitars, but a black tele body with a maple neck, chrome pickup covers, looks like a great combo. If I ever came across one in a good price range, definitely would consider it.
My first Tele is a black 1971. Bought new from Manny’s. I bought it because I didn’t want a blonde / cream colored guitar. They had one black one in stock.
In general I don't like black guitars. However, I have a soft spot in my heart for the black Schecter Tele style guitars Pete Townshend played on the Who's first "farewell" tour in 1982. I was just an impressionable kid, and boy did he leave on impression on me back then. I also like the Fender Aerodyne Tele since it looks similar.
Black is my favorite.
FSR Lite Ash
Mjt light relic. Couldn’t be more pleased. I love a black Tele with a mint guard and a cheesy custom water slide decal with made name on it. I did put it all together after all. The black Blevins Davecaster
Novak pups rutters comp saddles Mjt aged hardware beautiful musikraft .90-.99 neck. Belly cut and arm cut lightweight swamp ash body.
Not a fan of black, but I like El Tele Lobo's unfilled ash. And this from Jennings:
The guitar has a Kahler as well as a fully loaded Hipshot (two benders and three detuners). Can be strung for Kahler only, bender only (except for the D string, which always mounts to the Kahler), or a combination (e.g. just put the B and G into the bender, and the rest into the Kahler, or just mount to the detuners, and have the rest mounted to the Kahler). When not working as a vibrato, the Kahler works as the best roller bridge ever made – best roller action made, plus complete adjustability: intonation, height, and string spacing. I also have the second palm lever, which can replace the hip bender if I ever want to.
The body is by Rutters – western sugar pine, shaved down 1/4" from yer standard Esquire. Even so, it's still heavy, due to all the massive metal hardware.
The pickup is a P90 style in Tele form, from Reilander.
The neck is Musikraft – '60's-style maple Round-Lam (veneer) style. V to C profile with a 1-3/4" nut.
I finished it myself, in an interesting sandwich of white, black, and Dakota Red, that will hopefully wear down to look really cool some day. The neck is Tru-Oiled, but I might try to strip it and lacquer it instead.
So...1950 style Esquire prototype thin pine body. '60's style "replacement" neck. '80's–'90's vibrato and bender units. Modern pickup. It's supposed to be sort of a "what if" somebody had purchased the very first Fender guitar (a black 1950 NAMM Esquire prototype), and repaired and/or modded it to suit the trends of each decade, with several refins along the way.
What the hell am I going on about... of course I have black teles! duh.
Same tele. It has the cream guard on for good.
I also have a black Cabronita.
Does black paisley count?
