That isn't the midboost that is in the Blackie versions it is the one in the link here https://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_mid_boost_kit_clapton.htm it wasn't very highly regarded as it chewed through batteries and Clapton wasn't fussed with the DBX unit either so he had the Dennis Cornell 25db units put into his guitars instead. The Cornell ones are built with the controls as a part of the unit and fit straighht into a Strat scratch plate. Here is a link https://www.sussexbargains.co.uk/p8...cuit-classic-st-midboost-kit-for-stratocaster It looks to me that Fender took notice when they redesigned the one you have.

I almost never use the 60 watt setting, but I have added an extension cab, loaded with a Cannabis Rex speaker, so all my bases are covered.

On my Fenders with baas/mid/treble, I find that once I get it dialed in, I rarely redo the controls, since most of the time I keep the amp in the same spot. Generally if I take the amp out to a different sized room, I may slightly move the. controls somewhat. So if your amp doesn’t have a mid control and you want to add/cut midrange, you could swap out the mid resistor from the bass pot to ground to add or subtract the mid level.

That's still pretty high and will lift the tone stack to a significant degree. 15K to 27K works well. There are other places in the BF/SF circuit where you can increase mids as well. Or you can do the smart thing and buy an Ampeg.

Scroll back a little bit to my first post. 15-27k is more or less within the normal BF range. I often see the “tweed mod” where it just lifts the tone stack. Why disable the bass and treble? It’s better just to use a high value resistor. Sure it lessens the effect of bass and treble controls, but as little as 3db of bass control is still pretty effective with a lot of gain. The EQ curves obviously won’t be like the single tone tweeds but will look somewhat close to the two band 6L6 tweeds, and you get a gain boost. A nice compromise if you still want both sounds on hand, and don't want to worry about fussing with a control.

Just buy a EQ pedal if it's that important to you.

If you want a fat Marshall sound & if you play clean jazz, then yes!
