I’m not getting any younger and my back’s not getting any straighter. But at least for now, I can still stand to pee.

When I was in bands performing the majority of practice was standing.

Now that I just play for pleasure I never stand.

The last time I heard that question was in 1960 when my fifth grade teacher Mrs. Miller, who was at least 500 years old, would ask the boys who requested a bathroom pass “are you going to stand or sit?”

    doesn't matter really...

I'm in two bands so rehearsals and gigs are standing.

Working up new songs, running scales, writing parts for original material, etc are mostly sitting at the computer.

I do quite a bit of both

Unless I’m just noodling around I’m standing. Sitting just seems sort of unnatural for serious playing, practicing, or learning something new

    Stand, sit or depends?

    Sounds like an average weekend.

Ha! I'll be laying here all night. Be sure to tip your waitress.

I prefer to stand as I tend to bend over the guitar when sitting and it causes back issues.

I saw BB King a number of times. He always stood. Then in the later years he came out one night and he had a stool brought out for him after the intro piece. He said "I'm going to sit while I play tonight... Because I can".

Got a good laugh... and he was incredible, as always.

Lying down on the couch in front of the tv on mute most days now....

Seriously though try playing lying on your back on a yoga mat sometime. Good for neck and back pain.

Standing is better aside from the damn cable somehow getting wrapped round in circles.

Now though chronic pain makes standing with a guitar on a strap go bad quick.
So sitting is the new normal.

I read this thread title to the tune of Clash’s “Should I stay or should I go”.

Always seated at home, mostly seated at rehearsals.

I can't see any advantage on being stand to my playing, other than being ready for an hypothetical live performance.

    I stand when I gig.
Sitting down at a gig is like admitting defeat.
I do sit occasionally, but usually only on less danceable stuff.
Anyway, I sit when I play recreationally.

I saw him on his 70th birthday.
He stood for the first half hour, then graciously asked the audience if we’d mind if he sat.
He was enthralling, and his big band was ultra tight.
    It was an unforgettable joy!
