Perfectly good question, do you like to be standing playing, or do you prefer to be seated and relaxed?
Personally, I don't mind either, but prefer seating as my back tends to ache a bit from when I was run over by a car when I was in my 20s. Over to you....

I've been standing for 35 years. Screwed up my foot a few years ago and had to sit for a few months - felt weird as hell. The only time I ever sit and play is when I'm noodling on a new set of strings watching TV. I guess I restring sitting down.

I voted standing but really it’s wandering. Around the house. Looking out the windows. Every instrument I play has a strap. Except my cello.

I mostly play sitting these days due to a hip injury from a car accident a few years ago. Before that, I played standing up.

I picked “neither.” I generally prefer to stand (not just when playing—people are always asking “are you getting ready to leave” because I often don’t sit in social settings). However, when playing, I go through periodic sit-down cycles. Just coming out of one now. I’ll probably stand most of the time for the next six months, then sit most of the time for one or two before standing again.

I usually stand, sometimes I do miss the bowl. I don't notice, but the wife does.

I'm trying to do mostly standing, since previously I did a lot of sitting. And things feel really different between the two, so if you do all your practicing while sitting, then go to a gig and try to stand and play, you will suck (speaking for myself, others may not have this issue).
    However, when recording, I sit.

I have always said that we should practice exactly how we are planning to perform at the next gig.

So, standing up to the mic stand is how it goes.

I virtually always sit though I keep telling myself I should stand more if for no reason than my back gets sore when I sit too long.

But the real question is... you changed your avatar? The last one cracked me up every time I saw it! No idea why...

I think unless it’s a totally background restaurant gig or something similar, you gotta stand. I know guys who bring a stool to gigs and I kinda think “why don’t you just stay home and let someone who gives a crap have the gig?” Obviously, if there are health reasons or whatever, but it’s pretty lame otherwise. But that’s me, I care about things like that.

I've had to sit for almost 20 years-
Bad back/overweight, I can't stand up for more than a few minutes, without needing to sit asap.
My muscles seize up +pinched nerve kind of feeling- I get really anxious...

That said, once I sit down, I'm very comfy to play, sing, and hopefully entertain.

** also carry just about the least/lightest amount of gear you can to do a gig- which are frequent, but not big ( brewpub, Winery, Cafe)

Depends... if am playing alone at home, or with a friend or two, am cool with sitting... if playing in front of folks, standing....until I no longer can. I’m old but I ain’t THAT old yet

Gotta stand. I like to move around when I play.
