I just bought an LP Jr double cut kit and I am probably going to build it and finish it to a sunburst finish even though this model never existed that I know of.
Yes, but the only one I have at present is a D-28 Marquis. There are a lot more Martins with Sunburst now, than there used to be. I had wanted one ever since I first saw one, finally made it happen about a year and a half back. My brother in law thought I'd bought a Gibson first time he saw it!
It depends on the sunburst. I'm not that much of a fan of some of the 70s sunbursts (chocolate for example) or some of the garish too-much-red-in-them (clown) bursts.
But for years except for one guitar I never owned sunbursts for myself.
I was young, I was supposed to create an image for myself and I frankly felt sunburst guitars were for older players; one with lots of accumulated tricks of the trade.
Since I was young and not that good, and knew no tricks, I figured I should avoid them.
I like bursts except for any of the colors above. I like the Stratobursts and purplebursts etc. Sunburst, tobacco burst and anything with a hint of brown, red, yellow.....it's just too "been there, seen that" for me.
Two for the price of one! Just leave it out of the case for 38 years. Now all I need to do is lean it against the amp the other way round for a while to match both sides.
