My Ric 330 is my number 1 all day, everyday. But when I'm just mucking around at home it's usually my '64 Harmony Bobkat that gets the job.

Got several guitars, but the one that almost always goes to the gig is an early 2000's Gibson SG with the WCR American Steele pickup set in it. When I first got it, I called it my "last set guitar" because it was so light (5.9 pounds) and easy to hold and play. But more and more, if I start the first set with that guitar, I'm still playing it at last call.

Nah, my go-to guitar is whatever one I'm playing right now. I tend to play one for ages and then jump on a different one and play it for ages. Of course there is the whole "for this or for that" if we're talking about some specialist role that one is better at performing (tone wise) than another, because they all sound vastly different which is how I built them to be. I can't say I love one more than another. Well actually that's a lie. I have one that the neck is just so ... bloody nice ... that it always blows me away even though the others are all nice too.

I don't know what it is. The ebony board ? It's a 25.5 like any other Fender (it's a custom made so not a Fender in reality) but it seems to play like a shorter scale, ie: it's a benders dream. I'm not an outrageous bender and don't own anything shorter than 25.5 but it's this feeling that always stumps me, it just seems easier like those 24.75's do.

As above mentioned, not really a go-to and depends on the mood. A collection is for a choice of tone and song.

Doing a backing track for chord work might see the SX FTL50H Thinline. All original, didn't feel the need to change anything except I did change the jack to a Switchcraft. Many times swapping pots and pickups, that just shifts the mojo out of its range and we get mixed results.

This guitar's bridge pickup will drive an amp where other more expensive guitars fail. Must be the luck of the draw. Funny that the pickup itself is not even the same size as a standard Fender's.

With D'Addario XL strings, the SX pops. SX FTL50H (sm).jpg

My #1 electric is an Epiphone Les Paul with P90s, #1 acoustic is an all-mahogany parlor guitar.

More importantly, I have to ask, how does one go from being a professional guitar player for 14 years and playing over 2000 gigs to then retiring and not touching a guitar for 40 years??

Currently my tinnitus is whistling very loudly so I'm laying off the electrics ...... it should be my lovely little mahogany Taylor GS mini.

But I broke the little finger on my left hand not long ago and I can't play anything ...... weird, I never pass by a dropped penny but I pick it up.

    Oh, well.

I used to play two MIM Teles that I made custom thinline bodies for and modified with Texas Specials and a few other mods. I sold one and did a good Karma giveaway to a friend who started playing electric guitar a few years ago when I decided to only play acoustic guitar.

    Then this happened...
