You can be sure I will judge you.
Anytime I need to count my blessings, I can always read some comments to YouTube videos. No matter how bad I feel, I suddenly don't feel like the arrogant, ignorant, and angst-ridden dumbo that I really am a lot of the time. Everybody's seemingly an anonymous expert and higher critic these days.
"Lil' Wayne is the voice of our generation - not Justin Beiber!"
I'm sure that I am enmeshed to an inextricable degree...
I'm the guy who takes the photos of the funny cats and captions them with da bad spellingz.
This is the Internet too, right?
Nick, I saw what you did there.
The earliest I had stuff up for public viewing was a BBS I ran in 1985 or thereabouts. I've written programs for BBS' to extend them (games mostly). I still have a credit in the game Nethack as a contributor for fixing bugs in the program. I've written a few dozen programs for one reason or another and even collected money for a few (one was from AT&T South for a network utility I wrote; pretty cool). I popped up in one of the Gamer magazines as the first person to write a program called Star Trek 3D (the "3D" was for being able to travel up and down in addition to forward, back, left, and right). I'm credited in several books (Undocumented DOS for discovering drive designations for a program I wrote and Essential System Administration for some errors in a previous edition). I've "owned" my domain since 2000 and picked up several others for one reason or another and dropped a few because I didn't need them any more.
Most recently my wife's forums (Mosaic and Stained Glass) picked up a Black Hat remailer and I inadvertently contributed several thousand spam e-mails to a bunch of folks in The Netherlands (it was from some idiot in The Netherlands; you never saw so many 'O's ).
So yea, a little
I think your thread needs some work, Wattie....
it's sorta happening...
I'll give you an even 5 so far..... not to say I mightn't have another look at my score cards as the thread develops...
Fifty dollars a month says I do.
I'm guessing you're no longer neutral.
LOL @ Sean! Well played sir!
I'm still judging...
No, but I thought about contributing to the Gore campaign. . . .
do you even lift?
No, I detract from it.
Over my head I'm afraid. Maybe something lost in the language.
I can't claim to be neutral, since like everyone I judge the motive of posts on these threads. Seems like judging has a bad vibe in some parts of the world, so I make it plain that I use the word in its original sense, not trolling.
I just thought a Sunday morning debate on the morality of taking more from the internet than you put in could be interesting.
Round about every weekend I get to the end of the internet. More and more I have to jump over the LOLs and copied pictures, video links etc.
Once in a while I add a picture or a sound clip somewhere. I have my own IP address and add a little space to host stuff. Even had a forum at one point that went titsup. Tried to sell some amplifier knobs a few years back. Just incremental stuff. I just wonder whether it can survive on altruism.
Places like this (and others) live because of contributions of all sorts. I'm fishing to see what adds value and interest.
It is interesting to see how far we go before Beavis and Butthead get in. That is the thing I fear most in myself.
Out of 15 posts (not counting mine) this is not looking like a high score so far.
I mostly contribute here, the only other sites I use often are youtube, amazon, and some music gear sites.
