I am strongly thinking of building a Tele-Strat Hybrid with a Fishman Piezo system. Been searching online and except for the Fender Parallel Universe, these don’t seem to be crazy popular to build. Piezo systems are also a hot button topic, you either love them or hate them. I am a Fractal user and am thinking with the right IR it may sound good (Not expecting to sound like a full acoustic). Just looking for your experience with this type of project. I have a 1976 Anniversary Strat and it is the heaviest guitar ever built, plus I am a true Tele guy. Thought about basically copying the Pete Townshend Strat in a Tele body. Would love your thoughts

I like piezo pickups. There are good ones and bad ones. There are good sounds and bad sounds.

If you play live or even record at home, a good piezo makes sense because it approximates the sound of an acoustic guitar far better than any mag pickup in an electric guitar can. It's like a grenade: get it close enough and it works great.

The reason why so many guitarists "hate" the sound of a piezo is because it doesn't sound as good as a mic'd acoustic. They're right--it doesn't. But the way to appreciate a piezo is to accept the fact that it gets pretty dang close without having to stay on a mic, without a mic picking up room sound and other noises, etc.

And IRs are waaaay overrated. JMO.

If you disagree with me, that is perfectly okay. I get great sounds when I play and record. I'll bet you do too, using the methods you prefer.

Question, would a chambered body, no f-hole effect the piezo / magnetic sounds in any way negatively or positively?

I LOVE new ideas.
Keep in mind that Piezo's operate from the Mass of a Physically Larger String, like a Big Fat Bronze Wound and, the heavier unwound B and, E strings.
Smaller Diameter Steel Electric Strings Simply don't Vibrate as much.

With that being said, if You have an Idea that You think will be Cool, GO WITH IT.
Maybe it will, Maybe it won't but that isn't the Point.
The Point is, you had the Balls to do it.

DO your Damnedest.

i don't know what Line6 used in some of their guitars without real pickups, maybe that's an option?

but really your idea is your idea, and when you don't make that idea to come to be, you always will have the mental struggle with the : what if?????

Queen has a beautiful song: i want to break free
so hope to see what your freedom will look like ;)

I put together a partscaster with a Strat body Tele neck and a single Tele type bridge pickup. It was like Leo was encouraging us to mod our guitars.
