They still have dances at school functions. Is that what you mean? I've got a 22 and 18 year old.

Yep, music festivals, raves, dances, parties, etc. I'm not a fan of any of the extreme stuff except of course I love halloween... Haha. Anyways, yeah, the above post sadly sums it up for many teens.

As a 15 year old, I can honestly say, sort of... We sometimes joke dance and just like jump up and down... but no nobody really dances or else they get hurt... Except the girls in which case...

Sure they do.

You make the call...

I work at a convention center and we recently did some suburban high school proms. They had DJs playing some awful stuff and the kids were literally just jumping up and down in place. It was pretty sad.

I'd love to see it change. We were so happy as kids, just moving and attracting each other with our energy.

There used to be basement parties where I grew up, best part of the night was slow dancing to Massachusetts by the Bee Gees...seems there was one of those parties almost every week-end. Our high school used to have sock hops but I don`t have brats...I mean kids....so no idea what goes on in their little minds these days.

I'm kinda old now so I don't know. I'd love to hear from folks with kids.

I have five grandkids aged nearly 2 years old to
13 and I can assure you that while a lot has changed in the past 50 years, kids are still kids.

They may go about stuff a bit differently than I did but the basic kids having fun thing is still there, dances included.

My son's HS had school dances, he went to other HS dances, and at least a couple of house parties he went to had dancing. He liked to dance - with girls.

Holy doodle! I remember sock hops (don't scrape up the gym floor!). Poodle skirts, crinolines, wondering what was hidden. I went to a school dance and the band was Sam the Sham and the Phaoroes. Wooly Bully! Now I know what it means.

Im 17..i love to dance and i really do look stupid dancing, i have excellent rhythm just not in the hips haha. But in the end you gotta let go and just have fun. However im not one for school dances because i hate the dj music and the fact that my generation's idea of dancing is grinding and it's just a-bit tasteless. I do like the swing dance and i will go to prom for my senior year just because, well, it's prom but yeah we still dance. Just...differently

I'm 19 years old. We dance, but not in any sort of good formal way.

I love me a good mosh pit or circle of death (a mosh pit running around in circles) though. Electronic music concerts only ever seen to have people that are really good at dancing, and people that just jump up and down and wave their arms.

I'm usually that guy doing the Bernie, the sprinkler and starting an invisible lawnmower. The ladies are all over me :D

The one piece of advice I'd give my son? Boy, when a girl asks you to dance . . . you dance.

+1 exactly except back then we danced to the Beatles.
Remembering fondly how they used to mention that their mini skirt was riding up and showing too much when slow dancing. Ahhh the sixties were just the best ;-)
