Real curious... Which channel do you prefer to play through mainly, stock or tweed?
You're either going to need to change the way you do some things or get a new amp. If it was me, I would look into adjusting my approach to things before giving up on the amp. You never know, you may turn out the better for it.
there are many folks who have made killer 1-12 combo cabs for bassman heads. I have a single 12 cab from an old record player. That and my Showman head make for a light powerful set up. These speakers look pretty cool YOu can attenuate them on the spot for lower volume
Yeah trust me, this is the bassman 100 with HUGE transformers it weighs a ton
Still more flexible than a combo IMHO.
Lots of folks won't agree, but a 20# Pro Jr and a Sennheiser e609 will cover virtually the same territory that beast will.
Count me as one who doesn't agree. But I like to be loud enough to hear myself over a drummer while still keeping a clean sound. That's specifically the reason why I play a Bassman.
I know you said no attenuator but may I ask why? The weber models that use a speaker motor work insanely well at bringing the volume down while keeping the tone awesome.
I play with drummers as well. Put the PJ on a stand angled at my ear, and I can hear it at a volume where it's still pretty clean - I don't like big dirt at all.
I also have a big old Concert that I use in the summer, but it truly isn't necessary.
