I want to drop in a pair of Gibson P90 dog ear pickups into my 2018 Epiphone Casino Coupe. I will adjust the heights with Lollar shims.
    Are they expected to fit?

    Yep straight drop in.
My 2005 Casino now has Gibbons P90s. Big improvement on the slightly Muddy and hot Epis.

Slightly off topic, but did those of you who upgraded to the Gibson P90s use the Gibson covers, or did you re-use the Epiphone covers?

When I upgraded the soapbar P90s in my Epi 56 gold top to Gibson P90s, the original cream colored Epi covers didn't fit the Gibson P90s.

I ended up installing the Gibson P90s with the black Gibson covers, but after a while I broke down and bought some cream colored Gibson covers.

I like the classic gold top look with the cream covers.

Not sure if the dog ear versions have the same discrepancy between Epi and Gibson.

Fwiw, the newer Epiphone P90 Pros sound just as good as the Gibson P90s to my ears. Not identical, but just as good.

I wish Epiphone would market their Pro series stuff as after market pickups. The Probuckers are excellent too...

If I had to do it over again, I would not spend all that time and money trying to upgrade to Gibson P90s.

In the end it was more of a "side grade" that didn't really give me anything I didn't already have with the Epiphone P90 Pros.

    As always, ymmv.

The new P90 Pro pickup is a huge improvement over the earlier Epiphone P90s, which came in both ceramic and alnico versions.

In some ways, the P90 Pro is closer to a vintage P90 than it is to a modern Gibson P90, since they actually have slightly less output.

I dislike the ceramic Epi P90s. The alnico Epi P90s aren't bad. The Epi P90 Pros are great... Imho.

The 6 individual holes on top of the aluminum epi cover dont fit the gibson pickup frame.gibson doesnt make the aluminum covers.us/uk vs world diameters differ.
If you get the gibson pickup you have to use the cover unless you want to file out the metal epi to accomodate and keep the Casino look..

Did you use the Epi covers on the Gibson pick ups?

Because with the soap bars, you will need to replace the Epi covers with Gibson covers.

Not a big deal if they are the same color... More of a pain if you want to keep the original color (e.g., cream or chrome)

Lindy Fralin suggested I send him my Chrome Dogear P90's from my Asian Casino & he would retrofit his Fralin P90's to fit. Making it a straight in swap with my Chrome Dogear Covers which are impossible to get

Thanks for clarifying. As you can see by the other posts here, you are the exception. But it's good to know that it worked for you. I'm guessing that it depends on the year.

In case anyone interested mine is a 2005 I bought used. I can't guarantee the covers were original!
