I SOOOOOOO do that too. thank you for making me feel a little less crazy.

my dog, benson, has very strong reactions to music. My playing he either loves, or it bores him--he always curls up in a ball and falls asleep when i play. There are records he really likes--he'll come to the room from whever he is and hang out...there are others that will make him leave instantly...i put on some Art Ensemble of Chicago once and he growled at my infinitys!

I will never forget hanging out at one of chicago's cool dog-friendly bars one night and a sorta wacky lady struck up a conversation with us. somehow the topic floated towards the fact that her german shepard (who was with her, chillin') was a big bob dylan fan. to prove this, she put "hard rains gonna fall" on the juke, and the once silent dog sat up at attention, and then "sang" along with the whole song.

admittedly, it was cool for about 30 seconds and then got really irritating, but a fun story nonetheless.

It makes me wonder if I'm the only one that pretty much fears an thinks bout almost daily theres gonna b day when my dog might die and because of the strong attachment and waking up next to him every morning, exactly how to cope w that loss .I'm not sure I've ever attached myself so strongly to another soul..

Doesn't seem to register with ours. Norman's the same breed and size as our gal though... doesn't look like he's a fan.

    Maybe it's just Christmas tunes.

it seems to me that "singing" is something dogs (descended from wolves) do naturally. howling at the moon is a form of singing.

My brother in law's little dog used to hop and lay by him while he was playing. This wouldn't have been possible except he would lean back in his recliner to play, which I would find impossible to do. This allowed a place for his little dog to settle in next to him. With Toto, I could play my acoustic, and he was okay with that, but if I so much as picked up my Tele, he was out of there and gone!

Bruno will come into the music room when I sit down to play. After about 5 minutes he looks at me as if to say "you always play the same stuff, I'm outta here" and leaves.

Good observation Hoodie. I think dogs do like music but not loud and ditto to TD's comment.

Remember a story of a dog that frequented a pub up north, Darwin maybe, that howled in appreciation at the intro to Baker Street.
