Orange amps aren't bad amps mind you. I have owned an Orange amp for years and consider them to be some of the safest amps ever made.

But I think I have a bug in my Orange amps. No, not literally--sometimes my Orange wants to work and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes, whenever I plug one of my guitars into the Orange, it will work and the guitars I play it through sound like how an electric guitar should normally sound. But sometimes it doesn't want to work, and therefore it will produce no sound. Are all amps like this? Have you ever plugged your guitar into an Orange amp, only for the guitar to not sound like it should?

I hope to get my Orange amp modified sometime in the future. Advice is needed, as I've never modified an amp myself (And don't want to be electrocuted!)

But a lot of great musicians use Orange amps. Marc Bolan of T. Rex used them, and they've also become synonymous with bands such as REM, Fleetwood Mac and Wishbone Ash.

But just let me know if you Orange amps tend to work or not. Having an occasionally defective amp is no fun...

Which Orange amp model are we talking about? I have many friends who are players of Orange amps. AD30s and Rockerverbs for the most part. One owns an original Tiny Terror he bought new and it still plays like new. It's got to be 14 or 15 years old by now. Oh. While I am a Telecaster Player I also play many other brands / models and, truthfully, always thought Orange amps sounded their best paired with humbuckers.

I own an Orange Crush amp. I think it was manufactured in the early 2000s.

I'm pretty sure the Orange Crush amps are solid state. My group of friends / players don't use solid state. I'm sure other younger members at TDPRI will be of more assistance. I'm not saying solid state is less. It's just a different animal than what Orange amps reputation was based on. Vintage Orange, (like Marshall, Fender, Hiwatt, Vox, etc.), were all tube amps. Over time new technologies were incorporated into guitar amp builds. It's important to note the type of amp build when you're going for a specific tone or relying on a reputation. I wish I could be of more assistance.

I've never had a problem either, and I've owned (and used quite often) a TH30C since 2011.
But as said above, the good reputation of Orange amps mainly concerns the tube ones.

Get it fixed professionally. Don’t try tinkering. Lethal voltages in there!!

Orange Pedal Baby through my old Marshall 2x12 is rock solid. Especially with my obscenely large pedalboard. Split in stereo to Pro Jr.

I have an Orange Retro 50 head. Tele on the bridge plugged straight in is rock & roll, baby.

As others have said, like the Crush 20 is a solid state and also ~$200. Depending on what’s going wrong with it you might be spending the same money on a tech as you would to get a brand new model.

I recently got to work on 2 Hiwatt vintage amp heads the builds were outstanding same quality as DR.Z, Orange, ( which I have also worked on ) and the designs were on a different plain for the Tube units.
If you are having intermittent issues have the amp looked at , it could be something like a loose or cold connection or a bad connection and a simple fix .

the wiring is meticulous in these amps and well worth the repair.
the solid state amps may be different, I found this vid , to show the insides of the crush

Owned a Rocker15 for a while and while it was a quality amp (solid switches, etc) it sorta fell into a no-mans-land of tone for me. Sorta characterless and stiff. Much prefer the bounce and warmth of my Deluxe Reverb, '59 Bassman RI, Vintage Twin Reverb, Dumble clone, etc. Perhaps it was the form factor (10" speaker) but just couldn't get the mojo I feel with other amps. But the materials, simplicity and quality was apparent. Also, Orange seems to have painted themselves into marketing corner by focusing heavily on tat sleeved' hard-rocker types which isn't really appealing to me.

My main amp is a TH30, and I love it to death. I have never had one single issue with it. I bought it for the dirt channel, but I couldn't believe how great the clean channel was. It's very British, not like a Fender at all. Very sparkly and crisp. I do a lot of ambient clean stuff, and it's an amazing pedal platform. It loves my super washy cathedral and shimmer reverbs. The drive channel is super versatile, capable of everything from country to classic rock to modern rock to doom metal to modern djent mayhem (with an EH LPB-1 in front of it). For reference, I play the Tele in my profile pic as well as a thinline T-Style with Filtertrons and a Bigsby. I have also played a Rocker 15 Terror and loved it too. another super versatile amp that had fantastic tone. I will probably buy one later this year to take to gigs. So yes, as a Tele player I LOVE Orange amps. I may add other amps from other brands eventually, just for some variety, but my main will ALWAYS be Orange.

If it's intermittent, it's likely to be, in no particular order...
1) Input jack soldering. Dry or cracked joints.
2) Input jack itself being a bag of unmentionables.
3) both the above
4) A dry/cracked joint elsewhere
5) All the above.
Intermittency is caused by intermittent, ie, dry/cracked joints somewhere along the line ninety nine times in a hundred.

As for the Tiny Terrors, I have repaired a few ( successfully ). Dry/cracked joints around the heater connections and cathode resistors mainly. I bought one myself, and it is the worse PCB amp I have ever had the displeasure to try to get working. So much as touch a joint and the pad lifts, often it cracks where the track starts too, just to annoy me. Annoy me it does. I figure I have a pair of transformers and a chassis to play with.
The Micro Terror, and by extension, the Micro Dark, have a nasty habit of cutting out as the IC overheats if used with less than an 8 Ohm load. They used to be rated 4~16 Ohm, but now, 8~16.
They do sound rather nice though.

Orange OR15 for me. Plugged into a Marshal 4x12 with creambacks. It absolutely rocks. I have it at full tilt on the EQ, gain at about 2 o clock (just before the next gain stage really kicks in) and then just steer it with the guitar volume and tone knobs. Boss OD-1 for my mid-boost and I’m golden.

The earlier Crushes were decent little practice amps, but weren’t super robust.

I have a Crush 35RT that’s a great amp. It’s a more recent model. It’s built really well, is compact, lightweight, loud as bombs, and sounds really nice. The reverb is kinda crappy, but overall it’s killer sounding.

For the past several months now, it lives at the little bar I run part time. It’s the house amp for jam night. Everyone who plays it loves it.

35 SS watts and a 10” speaker and it’ll easily keep up with a 5-6 piece band with a loud drummer. I even have to ask some people to turn it down.

It gets cranked for hours every Monday night, gets knocked around, gets drinks spilled on it, and just keeps rockin’.
